Dr. Debnath, in my opinion, is a fine doctor. I had found out that I was pregnant, but after having my first ultrasound it was discovered that I had a blighted ovum. For anyone who may not know..this is when there is everything BUT a fetus. You feel pregnant, your blood work and pregnacy tests say you are pregnant, but there is actually no baby. As you can imagine, I was very upset by learning this and by the time I was referred to Dr. Debnath two very long weeks had gone by. He took the time to sit with me and explain what had happened, he made a phone call to another doctor and decided he would not let me go home and wait any longer to have a D and C done. He walked me in to the O.R. and took great care of me. He assured me that if I wished to have children that I most certianly could and that this will happen to many women at least once in their lifetime. He was kind-hearted, respectful, and patient.Everything you want in a doctor during such a terrible time.I'm sorry he is gone.

i was refurred to dr.debnath by my family doctor, for excrutiating pain during my menstrual period, and later in life, during sex. he asked me questions about my sexual history, and decided to do a pap to check for infection and stds. he also did a pelvic exam. when i went in i was worried about endometriosis, which i had symptoms of.(can cause infertility, which was quite scary). after the exam he told me he checked for endometriosis, and said i didnt have it.(www.medicinenet.com: Unfortunately, neither the symptoms nor the physical examinations can be relied upon to conclusively establish the diagnosis of endometriosis. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, can be helpful in ruling out other pelvic diseases and may suggest the presence of endometriosis in the vaginal and bladder areas, but still cannot definitively diagnose endometriosis. For an accurate diagnosis, a direct visual inspection inside of the pelvis and abdomen, as well as tissue biopsy of the implants are necessary.)

Well my first experience with him was through a referal from a doctor I saw at outpatients, ok fine I went to see him, but he gave me the creeps. First he said oh yes I can do a pap test no problem, then three months later his secretary calls me and says well he'd like to see you again, ok fine I go in a second time within three months for him to tell me that I'm still a virgin (hello I knew that already) and then he proceeds to tell me that he'll have to put me to sleep to preform the pap test, so then I went to see my specialist in Halifax and told them what he said and they said you don't need to be put to sleep for that ask your doctor if he can do it. Sure enough I had my pap test done by an associate and it was no problem. Then I got a letter in the mail stating that if I wanted my files I'd have to pay 30-40 dollars for it, I said they can keep it I am not paying that outrageous amount for ten pieces of paper at the most. I don't know what was worst the letter or seeing him.

The first time i seen him he was to give me a pre op needle (my gyno was away and had arranged for debnat to give this shot prior to my ablasion)after 45 min of yelling at me and asking me all these questions about my sex life(i still dont understand what a shot in my stomach had to do with my sex life) i finally had enough and requested he give me my shot that i would go to my own family physician to get it done at which time he finally said no i will give it to you.The second time i had a run in with this doctor was when i had an emergency surgery and lost my ovary.I didnt have a gyno at the time since mine had moved and i seen doctor on call for my heavy bleeding.Because of the surgery they wanted me to be checked to make sure i wasnt hemorrhaging.Debnap did see me telling to take 3birth control pills daily! I decided i wanted to see someone else for a second opinion! The specialist i seen in kentville agrees 3 birth control for a 40 yr old smoker was certainly not a good idea.
