Dr. Garvey was very kind and helpful to me. He took a personal interest and even phoned me at home to see how I was doing. He always asked me my opinion on decisions that he made concerning my treatment and addressed any concerns that I might have unlike some doctors who think they are God and do notlike it if you question what they say. I found Dr. Garvey to be very kind and caring.

Hes a great Dr. Some people just get so wrapped up in themselves that they just think they are sick and want the attention for it. If he gets in your face, its only to help you become a better person. You are just angry because thats not the reaction you want from him. I fully recomend him if you infact have a serious problem, and arent just in it for the attention.

Seems to be hate-Dr.-Garvey time here. This man helped me through some of the most difficult years of my life. I found him to be blunt, in your face, and one of the smartest men I've ever met. Also one of the hardest working. He doesn't like whiners or liars. I was neither. Thanks for all the help, Doc.

Dr. Garvey is an extremely well educated, knowledgeable and compassionate doctor. He has gone the second mile for me on a number of occasions; interceding on my behalf while I was trying to overcome agoraphobia and shyness. He has never referred to drugs as a cure, but as a tool to stabilize a situation in order that work can be done. He has made a great deal of difference in the way I am able to live my life.

Psychiatrist that refuses to treat mentally ill patients, his area has extremely high rate of suicides from untreated mentally ill teenagers and young adults. My daughter is lucky to still be alive, this is only because I kept fighting to get her help by removing her from his district and finding doctors who have compassion, many others were not so fortunate. My younger daughter and I lived in fear of our lives when this daughter was episodal, I was told she was just selfish and trying to get attention and it was about time she grew up. He also stated when her first met her (at the age of 15) that she appeared to have schizophrenia but he doesn't treat teenagers at which point he got up and left the room. No referral and in this area there is no recourse, you're stuck with the only psychiatrist that works your district.

A disgrace to his profession -no other way to describe him.......nobody can calculate the suffering and misery he has caused over more than 3 decades........and now treating our veterans????? - what a slap in the face that must be to people who fought against tyranny and evil! Surely we can do better than that - he should not be able to collect another penny from the people of Nova Scotia!

Dr. Garvey is a disappointment, as a doctor and as a person. He has betrayed my trust as a patient and confidence in the Nova Scotia Mental Health. It is extremely discouraging to know that a doctor that has been practicing for thirty some odd years can take advantage of a patients' trust and than choose to slander a patient because he or she disagrees with his ways of practicing. This says a lot to his morals and values as a doctor but more importantly, as a person. He should be ashamed, but that would take work, and anyone who has been referred to him knows that that would be asking too much from him. Dr. Garvey here's a pill...RETIRE...and swallow it!

This man is an affront to all legitimate medical practitioners, and a continual violator of the Hippocratic oath. Aside from prescribing medication, which admittedly was needed initially, he provided nothing but grief in my life as a result of sharing information about me with other patients, including providing personal contact information to someone who then pursued what was ultimately a an extremely harmful relationship with me as a result of his misguided, unprincipled attempts at matchmaking. He is a menace, and a discredit to the profession.
