I've been with Dr.Heymans since he started his practice. Yes he does fall asleep but he seems to be listening at least when I've been there. I've never found him uncomforting or uncaring. I do believe he has too much on his plate. When you can't even get an appointment for weeks or more because he's too busy with caring for people at the Russell Meadows. He should have his practice first. It's not easy to find a family doctor I the area and its ashame that his patience could be at risk because of not being able to get in to see him for long periods of time. It's great that he does house calls, as not many do.

I've had Dr. Heymans all my life. He's a great doctor, but he is starting to lose it a bit. I agree with a lot of you that it's time for him to retire. When pharmacies call in to request more prescriptions, it take forever for him to send and when it's time to send requisitions to other doctors it takes a couple of weeks. It's either time to retire or give up some of his duties such as hospital and residential visits. He should be focusing only on clinic. Might not fall asleep as much.

This Dr. seems to have difficulty listening, and makes decisions without consulting either the patient or their family. As a result the patient is compromised. Retirement might be the best option for him.

Always half asleep. Taking shortcuts in trying different approaches or medications. His practice is falling apart.

Sleeps when you talk to him. rolls eyes when asking questions about your concerns, if awake.
Degrading, selfsenterd, very uncumfertable to be in same room will. 32 years experience, NO MORE.

Dr. Heymans has been my doctor since birth. He is very knowledgeable. You might have to wait to see him but he is a great doctor that gives you the time you need. You are rarely rushed through an appointment.

Dr Heymans and his staff, nurses Margaret and Kate, office staff Shirley and Karen are an amazing team. They are all caring and extremely competent. Dr H. is very knowledgeable, caring and thorough. He does not hesitate to make a referral if he feels there is a need. I have been a patient of this doctor for many years and have never been disappointed in the care I have received. Punctuality used to be more of an issue but is no longer. Regardless, as others have mentioned I never resented waiting as I always knew this doctor would spend the needed time with me to make sure all issues were thoroughly explored. He goes above and beyond the call of duty, working long hours, making followup phonecalls as needed and even making housecalls to vulnerable, shut-in patients. He is a true "country" doctor, a rarity in today's society.
