I have been seeing Dr Welder since we moved to Salmon Arm 10 years ago. He is an excellent doctor and I would highly recommend him. He took me off a prescription I did not need, has always taken the time to answer all my questions and has provided information and guidance when I have seen specialists over the years. One of the best doctors I have known!

I read all of the reviews here. It sounds like those with a pre-existing condition who are seeing Dr. Welder for the first time expect him to just accept their request for drugs. It doesn't work that way. If a Dr doesn't have your history or know you, they MUST do their due diligence. Dr Welder can be to the point often. It is possible that he might seem to lack the bed-side manner that some think a Dr should have. In my case, I have had him as my Dr for almost 10 years. He is hesitant to prescribe drugs, unless it is very clear I might need them. I like that. I prefer not to take them. He has set everything in motion for a specialist years ago and monitored me well. He has been proactive with me. That's my experience. Yours may be different.

I am a heart patient and doctor welder has been nothing else but wonderful to see. Best doctor I have ever had. Highly recommended

Terrible experience. Rude and dismissive. Did not listen to my concerns. Was advised by my physiotherapist to get a GP to make a referral to a foot specialist and Dr. Welder refused saying I should get x rays (have already had 3 xrays)). He would not accept the recommendation or advice of experienced physiotherapist. Told me that perhaps I had a blood clot and sent me on my way. Complete waste of time. Had to wait 1.5 hours to see him, and for nothing. Worst doctor I have ever seen!

I went in hoping for a referral to a specialist, after I had been for blood tests and xrays with no success, and I was hoping for more answers. I told him I was unable to get a GP anywhere, and he told me to get this referral I’d need to be accessed by a GP and that was “just the way the system works”. I have suffered from chronic pain the majority of my life, and to get any answers I need this specialist. But Dr. Welder was dismissive and rude, and had no intention of helping me find the help I need.

The staff are wonderful and the punctuality is good, but that does not make him a good Doctor. He is exactly as what has been said in the other comments. Thinks he is God and will not listen to your wishes ,,,just because. Too bad it is so hard to find a good Doctor these days and the ones that are good will not take any new patients..

Just sits looking at his computer with mouse in hand clicking on it for prescriptions and referrals. He just sends you out for tests and referrals even thought you might not need them. He is deaf when it comes to anything I say or think and just lives in his own little world. Even his staff doesn't seem very fond of him. He's arrogant and wouldn't know how to even spell people skills. So hard to find a doctor in this town but he takes new patients and it's always easy to make an appointment because people don't like him.

Staff are pleasant, but have not been impressed with dr. Makes you feel uncomfortable and taking up his time. After 3 months of illness, I’ve gone to the mount ida walk in and was greeted friendly staff n dr has done more and listens.
