Dr. Kager is a very competent Doctor from all I have heard about him. He did a spinal fusion on me a few years ago, he has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. He rushes in and rushes out, not friendly, doesn't listen very well, doesn't look you in the eye when he speaks to you. Worst of all he did the surgery and it did not improve my condition at all, in fact I had more pain when it was over and even until this day. When I told him about the pain and the lack of improvement he became very brusque and said that was all he could do for me and I should not come back to him. It's a little upsetting when the surgeon in whom you have entrusted your life, just blows you off. I was not angry, I just wanted to have some help with my pain. I don't think he likes to confront his failures. He did tell me up front that the surgery might not work and there was a tiny chance that it might get worse, he did not tell me he would throw me to the wolves if this happened & not help me

After fusion surgery, my husband was in severe pain. Kager's response was that the xrays look fine. After our family doc sent hubby for a bone scan, the radiologist refused to send him home, instead sent him to the ER for severe pain. He was admitted to the hospital. After pain mgt physicians got the pain under control, hubby went to another neurosurgeon. After fusion was redone, 2nd neurosurgeon told us that the hardware Dr Kager used was undersized, had shifted and was pressing on his spine. 2nd fusion worked beautifully. I would not recommend Dr Kager to anyone.

I was very impressed with the staff and Dr. Kager. His diagnosis was right on and my pain was relieved almost immediately. I would recommend him to anyone.

I have had a great experience with Dr. Kager and his staff. You really feel that he has your best interest at heart. Within two weeks of my initial appointment, I was able to have my surgery. He is very knowledgeable. The care from everyone including the staff and the doctor is excellent. I would highly recommend this doctor.

As a public health scientist who has spent much of her career studying the quality of health care, I recognize high quality care and practice management when I see it. I was greatly impressed with Dr. Kager's diagnostic acumen and surgical technique, as well as with the patient-friendly functioning of the practice as a whole. I live more than 30 mi. from Lancaster, but feel it was well worth the extra distance.
