Rude and incompetent doctor. She’s better off being an MTA bus driver instead.

Horrible doesn't listen at all asks her assistant what meds and just refills them, and doesn't get the meds right all the time either, have seen several reltived go through dementia and Alzheimer's, ,my opinion she look in the early stages of both and should retire before she kills someone ,thank the pharmacy for cachtcing drug interactions beforehand

The only positive experience I have is that she has a friendly assistant who took notes for her and corrected her when she addressed me as a male instead of female. Otherwise, a doctor visit, both intake and follow up, is just a back and forth arguments of what medications I am taking, dosage, and how often. Then she gives me a prescription and sends me on my way. My old psychiatrist would spend most of the 20 minutes appointment time listening to how I have been doing and discussing if we need to address anything with medication changes.
Not only did she just keep me on the same medications I was on with my old psychiatrist, she was too lazy to write directions for when I should take them. She didn't take time to figure out for herself if my diagnosis was accurate with the medications she prescribed or address any new symptoms I bring up if I did manage to talk over her and get her to listen which required a lot of effort.

As opposed to what all these other people are saying, I found Dr. Afshar helpful. She is a doctor who has been around for a while, and is a passionate lover of her profession. The front office staff has improved since she switched offices, and now I see her regularly. She has helped with my anxiety, and I feel like a better person every time I see her. Her only problem is her listening, which is a little problem. Thank you Dr. Afshar for helping me and making my life better.

This was the worst experience I had with this doctor and the office.
I am going to report to the medical board.

I am sorry I did not read the comments before I saw her. I agree 1000% with the comments about her unprofessional and poor rapport with her patients. She literally took no more than 5 minutes for the intake and she wrote out the prescription and as far as she was concerned that was it. One commenter said she was just a drug pusher and that is exactly how I felt. She would not talk to us anymore after she wrote the prescription. Unfortunately we have to go back to get refills. I wonder if the State Medical Board or AMA reads these comments.

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Afshar. I want to start off with the part that bothered me the most: after my first (and only) session with her, she said "schedule an appointment in a few weeks to follow up" after prescribing a new medication to me. I tried to ask her exactly how many weeks, two weeks? 3 weeks? 1 month? This is all I was trying to ask her. She very RUDELY kept interrupting me saying "No, No! That is NOT my job! You need to schedule it with the front desk" -- she was not listening at all, I was only trying to ask how many weeks I should come back and see her. Ok-- whatever, maybe the front desk already knows exactly how many weeks to schedule me for a f/u. OMG-- When I went to the front desk, the lady asks "Ok, in how many weeks should I schedule you for?" I wanted to rip my hair out. About the dr: she kept totally misunderstanding words that I was saying and kept repeating the most off the wall stuff, stuff that I didn't even say. Bad listener, unhelpful, rude, awful pscyhiatrist. One session was enough-- I will never go back to her again. If you are reading this and are thinking of seeing her-- don't. If you already have depression or anxiety problems, I promise you that Dr. Ashfar will make the problems WORSE

I agree with other ratings. She is a horrible doctor. Does not listen to what you have to say. If you have a medication that is working for you, she will be sure to want to change it. She is always late. She also upset my daughter who went to her once. Do not waste your time or money on this doctor.
