Dr. Carmody is a miracle worker. Texas Back Institute and Up & Open Imaging MRI both missed I had a cyst at L-5 which was causing lower leg pain and excruciating ankle pain to the point I could barely walk due to pain for eight months. My TBI doctor left the practice and I saw another doctor who immediately saw the cyst on L-5 but thought my problem was "maybe" or "possibility" caused by the L-5 Lumbar Vertebra being out of alignment and pressing on the sciatic nerve and recommended a "soft fusion." No one in their right mind has back fusion without the doctor being certain about the diagnoses. I saw Dr. Carmody for a second opinion and he said, "He didn't see anything screaming fusion." and recommended the less invasive procedure of removing the cyst first.
I woke up from surgery and the pain was gone. The healing process wasn't bad and physical therapy helped me regain the strength I had lost sitting around for eight months. It has been a year since my surgery and I have no further problems with pain in my lower leg or ankle. Dr. Carmody is friendly, takes the time to answer all your questions and does a very thorough physical. I cannot recommend him high enough, he's a fantastic doctor.
