Literally kicked out this morning for being a cancer patient.

3 months ago I phoned this clinic and explained my case: "I just moved to California, I have hashimoto's and thyroid cancer. Is there an endocrinologist here who can monitor me?" "Yes, see Dr. Nadeau," the receptionist says.
This morning I show up and get checked in, then I'm promptly kicked out for having thyroid cancer. For some reason the site manager, and not one of his staff, walks me out, explaining "He doesn't treat thyroid conditions." HIS BLURB ON THE WEBSITE SAYS HE TREATS THYROID CONDITIONS. He wouldn't even see me, the only comment he apparently made was "She should just go straight to a surgeon." Any good endocrinologist should know that a person with thyroid cancer gets monitored by the endo and referred to the surgeon when the ultrasound indicates it is time for surgery.

I was literally thrown out today for having thyroid diseases... by an office that claims they treat thyroid diseases. They blamed the "call center" for being "misinformed" when it was THEIR office I called, and their own website claims he treats thyroid problems. Guess he wasn't in the mood for a new patient?

Now my cancer treatment is delayed by 6 months- the 3 months I waited for this appointment, and the 3 more months it will take me to find a new doctor. Horrible, horrible, horrible experience. I was so angry I was shaking. The site manager was kind and extremely apologetic, but this doctor and his staff tossed me on the curb like trash for having cancer.

Dr. Nadeau did not help me out whatsoever. As a diabetic, he never once checked my feet, heart, or anything else for that matter. He never ran blood tests and I only had my A1C checked once in the 2 years I was seeing him. His main concern was to get me to lose weight. Gave me every medication he could to acheive that. My blood sugars remained out of control, my triglycerides were through the roof and never really got under control under his care. He even suggested gastric bypass and I am not even near 200lbs or over. I changed doctors, and within once month I had my BS under control and my tryglcerides are normal with less medication. My new doctor got to the root of the problem and I am so thankful I did not stay under his care because I probably would have ended up in the hospital.

Dr. Nadeau ABSOLUTELY saved my life. After two years of suffering, tears and begging multiple doctors for help in multiple appointments, with refusals to even order a lab test, I finally was referred to Dr. Nadeau. He diagnosed my hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's Disease) in just moments, confirmed it with tests, and prescribed Armour Thyroid. My life was given back to me. He is brilliant, kind, and attentive to how a person feels and functions, as opposed to just using lab numbers for a prescription. Unfortunately, he has left the area for a new job in California. Lucky California people! I miss him so much!

When I first saw Dr Nadeau, I thought he was one of the more enlightened endocrinologists because he ran some of the tests that other endos would not run. However, he was resistant to letting me try any form of natural dessicated thyroid medication. Additionally, and most troublesome, was his poor knowledge of thyroid lab values. While he agreed to run Free T3 labs, he stated at my last visit "I don't really even know what that lab means." Really? I would not recommend him and have found much better and more comprehensive treatment by seeing a naturopath who understands the whole thyroid and its connection to other hormonal issues. Prescribing medication based on TSH?? Dr Nadeau is still living in the Dark Ages to be sure!!

I've suffered from daily headaches for 7+ years. Don't know the cause. About a year ago I was diagnosed with a tumor on my pituitary gland. None of my doctors feel the tumor is related to the headaches. Since my tumor affects a hormone I was sent to Dr. Nadeau. I read reviews prior so I knew what to expect. He was not interested in doing further testing. The tumor can affect more than just one hormone level. He instantly switched my current medicine for my tumor even though I was having good results on it. By the end of the first appointment he was trying to get me to switch to a vegan diet, even claiming a vegan diet would cure my headaches. I had huge concerns appointment two regarding my new medicine and new symptoms. He try to blame it on PMS. The "P" in PMS stands for PRE...these symptoms were during. It is not DMS. He told me if I was a vegan I wouldn't have PMS symptoms. He is not interested in helping me, I am cancelling my next appointment and going back to primary care dr.

Contrar to what the other two posters wrote, I found Dr. Danial Nadeau to be one of the finest MD's I've ever encountered and I've had to deal with many. Bottom line; he saved my life. I use to have my visits in Hampton, NH but when he went to York, ME, I followed him there. In 2006 and 2007, I suffered with thyroid cancer and both throids were removed. I became overweight and never moved. I was so down and finally, I tried seeing Dr. Nadeau. He reviewed everything and came up with a resolve. I am back to being myself and I feel there is nothing I wouldn't do for the guy. He is so down to earth, not condescending nor does he belittle anyone. We joke together, we laugh together, we share personal thoughts together. He is, by far, the very best Doctor, man, individual that I have meet in a very long time. I would go as far to say I would be gay for that guy if I could only have him feel the same way. Too bad for anyone else that fails to see the greatness in this man. Mike

He seems to be fixated on diet and weight, wanted to give me a monthly 'appetite suppressant' shot, as well as a prescription for metformin, without any blood work. When I mentioned that a previous doctor had suggested I might have PCOS, he then assumed I did in fact have PCOS, again without testing. And yet when I discussed my current medications, he wanted me to get off one of them, again without any blood work. I have hypothyroidism, and he seemed to be more interested in my dry skin issues than in brain function and memory! He has written some sort of diet book, prominently displayed in this office, and evidently would have been happy to sell me a copy. I also agree with the other poster that he is moody and borderline rude. He cut me off and interrupted me several times. His behavior lacks logical consistency, to say the least, and I will not go back.

He is VERY moody and sometimes rude. Makes you feel like you're an idiot. Has a low tolerance for overweight people. I would not recommend him. He knows what he's talking about, but his bedside manner stinks.
