I went to Dr. Berkman to take a look at an ankle injury and had a similar experience to the review above. He was very technial in his description of my injury and answered my questions into a tape recorder and not to me. He used terminology I could not understand or relate to and had absolutely no bedside manner at all. He also warned me that surgery can result in amputation or death. He scared me so much that I did not see another doctor to treat my injury until a year later and while I do trust that he is probably a fantastic surgeon, becuause he was recommended by people I trust, I will not consider having him perform my ankle surgery. I will go with a doctor who cares about their patients and Dr. berkman did not.

I saw Dr. Berkman for a hairline fracture in my left foot. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a physician in my entire life. Dr. Berkman spent most of my visit transcribing a letter to my doctor with a tape recorder. That is really how I found out his diagnosis. Every time I mentioned something or answered a question, he did not give me a chance to elaborate my thoughts and/or experiences. He actually frightened me with his diagnosis of diabetes (not diagnosed by my endocrinologist), possible foot amputation and necessary lapband surgery. Dr. Berkman might be a good surgeon but the way he behaved with me makes me know that even if he were the only doctor with his speciality available locally, I would never go back.
