Wow, if you can get by "SHEILA" who is a scheduler, you may just get to see Dr. Cline. Based on the reviews I've read though, you may want to look elsewhere. My ENT sent a referral over for me to be seen by Dr. Cline, for headaches. I initially spoke to Sheila on the phone who kept insisting that I couldn't be seen because I have MEDICAID. I DO NOT have Medicaid, I have Pacific Source Medicare. The more I kept trying to make her understand that, the more she insisted I had Medicaid. Out of frustration, I finally told her to come over and find my Medicaid card then, "because I don't have Medicaid." She was so rude on the phone. Then, I phoned back and spoke with Jessica in billing. I explained what had happened and that I do not have Medicaid, that I have Medicare and that I was happy to pay the 30 dollar co-pay. At that point she tells me, "well we aren't in St. Al's system, so you are out of network." "You can't be seen here." I phoned my ENT's office to let them know about the situation and the woman I spoke to at ENT stated, "they were just giving you the run around." I phoned back and asked Jessica why their office was listed in the St. Al's website. Back pedaling, she said well we don't take all Pacific Source plans, and that if I could just give her my insurance numbers she could check to see if I was in network.
Why when I initially called, did Sheila insist to me that I had Medicaid and then I was told by Jessica that I was not in network but when I check the Al's website, Dr. Cline is listed as a St. Al's doctor. Once I called Jessica back and confronted her on telling me they weren't affiliated with St. Al's, then she offered to check to see if my insurance was in network.
Patients, public, I worked in Family Health and for a Specialty Practice until I was seriously injured in an accident. I know the inner workings of a medical office. You will be profiled. You will be disrespected if you have Medicaid or Medicare or they see you are a chronic pain patient. These are the signs of the time. You cannot get quality healthcare even if you can get past the front office staff. You can have 15 mins of time and hope and pray they address your chief complaint. If you fit in the class of Medicaid, Medicare or are a chronic pain patient, just expect to be treated like scum.
What you need to remember is that you pay for medical care. Don't let them bully you with bad customer service, sarcasm, lies, or give you the run around. Insist on getting what you are paying for or find a provider who will be concerned with your healthcare. Be your own advocate. If a medical office doesn't have in place protocol for how their front office staff is supposed to treat patient's when they call, you can pretty much be certain that the same service you receive on the phone will be the level of care you will get from that office. YOU DESERVE GOOD HEALTHCARE!
