Dr Patel caused me to lose five years of my life. I came to see him for severe anxiety and panic attacks after moving into the area from another city. My old family doctor had me on an SSRI which wasn't helping. Dr. Patel prescribed me an extremely strong anti depressant and Klonopin. Shortly after I began to exhibit schizophrenic tendencies, severe paranoa, manic episodes, and cases of psychosis. I had begun seeing a psychologist to help with my anxiety around the same time. My therapist repeatedly tried to contact Dr. Patel who would not respond. I brought this up in every appt with Patel. Mt therapist was worried for my health but Dr Patel told me to continue my meds and take Klonopin throughout the day. I could barely function and was acting erratically. He refused to admit I was bipolar bc I couldn't pinpoint a family member. My new doctor immediately took me off the drug and diagnosed me as bipolar. Never should I have been on those meds. I lost jobs, relationships, and years.

I went to Dr. Patel because he was said to be the best and was well recommended. At my last visit I knew it was time to CHANGE doctors. Dr.Patel considered me "a high risk patient" and said i needed to be in partial hospitalization treatment asap. I saw Dr. Patel two weeks later. He said everything sounds good and thought I was on medication I was not on. Thought I was off medication he had upped the dosage of and then proceeded to write out a prescription for a medication I had discontinued roughly a month prior to that visit. I am no longer a patient of Dr. Patel and i believe he needs to cut back on his case loads or retire!
