I've been a patient of dr. Ghotanian for probably over a decade. During that time I always felt like I was rushed in and out by him and he always seemed to find something I needed to do that was always expensive and required things like removing a tooth etc. recently I had a very bad toothache and he tried to rush me into getting dental surgery that would've required me to pay over $10,000 out of pocket. He made it seem like it was urgent and tried to get me to commit to this procedure right away (he seems to love making everything seem like to urgent and needs to be taken care of right then and there). I've always felt like I was being upsold by this doctor. You know that feeling when your in the finance office of a used car lot and they want you to sign right then and there. That's how t feels dealing with this guy. Anyways, to make a long story short I was recommended to another dentist who took x-rays, did an exam and they informed me that I didn't need the tooth extraction, implant, surgery etc. needless to say I wasn't surprised. It's been over a year and my teeth feel fine. I feel like Ghotanian tried to rush me into this surgery just to make a buck off me. I would not recommend this doctor. Don't let the fancy location in Encino fool you. I personally am very distrustful of this doctor.

Dr. Rene Ghotanian and his staff are completely amazing.I have had a fear of the dentist for my entire life but with this dentist and his staff I was completly at ease. I had dental implants to support my upper denture and they are great ( no more glue ). The process was nearly painless and I am totally satisfied. I would highly recommend Dr. Ghotanian to everyone needing dental work. He is professional,gentle and so easy to talk to. If you need a great dentist, this is the one to see.I think you will love him and his staff. I did.

Dr. Ghotanian is very knowledgeable and kind. I had three teeth extracted with implants installed in the same procedure. Incredibly I had very little pain that was easily controlled with tylenol and motrin. I have never had a dental procedure of that type with so little pain which is telling of one thing. This doctor has skills! I have heard from people there are dentists out there that are good enough at what they do to keep the pain and swelling to a minimum I just had not run across it yet. Looks like I found one!

My family has been going to Dr. G for years, he is caring, honest and very fast. He gets it done and you are on your way. I have recommended him to may of our co workers!

Absolutely the worst dental experience of my life. Never even met Rene, just a female dentist. Receptionist was the rudest, most irrational person I've ever dealt with. The dentist told me I had to have a porcelain something that would be $800 and would not be covered by insurance. I went somewhere else and they gave me a standard filling with no problems. Also, they would not accept my insurance from my new employer even though the provider called them directly and faxed over the proper documents. Truly a nightmare.

I have been traumatized by this dentist. Hewas incredibly rough with my gums and set the crown up so high that my gums are always irratated. He was also very rude and I overheard him swearing to his nice assistant. He left the roomand I asked her if he was always like that and she gaveme a look saying "Go somewhere else!" I didnt and regret it. I was not numb when he started, I insisted I wasnt and he went in anyway... I hope to run into him one day to return the favor and do some painful dental work of my own.

I always wonder if he's trying to oversell an unnecessary procedure. Overall, I think he does great work and has very modern equipment that make the visits quick.

Tina Ghotanian is Good, but NOT Rene Ghotanian. He is horrible.I had crown job there. Due to the change of my insurance, I went to another dentist and found that there are gap on crown job. So, I got a letter from new dentist and went to see Rene to fix it. He checked on X-ray again and said there is no gap. So I believed and left without fix it. A while later, I moved and went to new dentist and he found the same issue on my crown. There is a gap. So I fixed it this time. Fortunately, I got 3rd opinion to make sure Rene was wrong. If he can not recognize the problem and all other dentist can........I am pretty sure he does not know what he is doing. But that's not all.......the worst of all, the Asian receptionist (filing manager) is extremely rude and ignorant...... and she is a bold-faced liar!!. Don't believe Rene and receptionist. On the other hand, Rene's sister, Tina, is great dentist. I am very sorry for her. She could be great without those two.
