Pre-op exam consisted of him walking in "okay what are we here for today?" Did you even attempt to look at me file? Okay I will explain I have a 1 inch gall stone and need my gallbladder out , but don't let me tell you what needs to be done. "Oh yeah that's going to have to come out" and then he was out the door....that was the extent. So I made the appointment for surgery with his staff and they explained what I needed to do for prep.
I was never told how the procedure would be done or how many incisions. Luckily in pre op at the hospital they told me a little more about what to expect that day. Day of surgery nothing except Dr Butt walked in " okay are you ready?" Well I am half naked laying in a hospital room with lines coming from my arms....yeah thanks just get this thing out of me.
Post operation nothing that day no word from him. The hospital staff at Hazelton was fantastic literally the only thing that kept me from flipping out.
Post op visit to get staples out. In the room I hear him outside the door telling the nurse he is going to leave. "Um Dr you still have one patient" "oh" walks in with nurse rushing behind. "Okay what are we here for" Really we are playing this again. Nurse says " you are pulling her staples out " he doesn't say anything but gestures for me to lift my shirt. I am not on the table, just a chair and the door to the room is still open! So I do as he wishes and he realizes he doesn't have a staple remover. I was thinking shouldn't this all be done before I even enter the room? Okay so he comes back, door still open and he lifts my shirt this time and just starts ripping. Never washed his hands, no gloves and sterilized nothing. His nails where long and stuff caked under them also his hair was about 2 days unwashed at least. I am not a germaphobe but I am freaking out.
Okay last incision to remove my belly button can't get to them sitting needs to lay on table. I stand up and both the nurse and he do nothing. Okay will slide the foot thing myself because I am 5'3" and can't get up. So he finishes ripping them out drops the tray with my staples and leaves. Never saw him again. I sat up nurse said okay you are done. I am bleeding not a lot but enough to warrant two bandaids. Nurse says "Well I don't normally work this office I don't know where they are" " can you find me two?" Thank you for making me feel like I need to beg unless you want me rooting through drawers.
I go out to my car and cry as I had never felt so violated. I drive get an iced coffee and go home. I know rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide are a no no on wounds but I douse my self in both and rebandage so I don't get an infection.
The next day I reported him to the office manager. Since then I know he was fired from the Lehigh Valley Network the last straw being that a new nurse reported him for saying lude comments about a patient during a surgery. It very well could have been me and I kinda hope it was. I hope this was helpful. He is working with Geisinger now.
Do you want an organ out...he is your man but kinda crappy besides.

I highly do not recommend Dr. Butt. I had no diagnostic testing done which I have learned is appropriate to diagnose a hernia. He provided me with no information on my surgery. His staff lead me to believe it was laparoscopic, it was not No one in the hospital would give me information about my surgery and the procedures performed. Dr. Butt never came back to check on me in the hospital. Post op appt. was brief. Once again absolutely no communication and no information was provided to me. Please do not go to him! It was a horrible experience, especially for someone who never had surgery. I'm in the healthcare field and the standard of care was substandard along and unethical!

Horrible experience!!! I waited 2 hrs for him to peak into the exam room for 1 minute and without examining me told me I needed surgery. The exam room was dirty with what appeared to be blood splatter on the walls! He was as dirty and unkempt as the room! I wouldn't take my mange infected dog to him for fear that my dog may catch something!!!!!STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

He has been very helpful with my painful condition. He has treated me 5 times and I couldn't be happier. He is very professional and I wouldn't recommend anyone else. I am definitely grateful for his help. My only complaint is the waiting room wait time...other than that...A+

Kept me on celebrex for a blood clot in my leg after taking me off a sulfa antibiotic because I had allergic symptoms. Celebrex is also a sulfa drug, needless to say I had issues and now have permanent ringing in my right ear. Had he or someone on his staff reviewed my charts on the computer they would have seen the medication highlighted in red on the screen. After weeks of complaining of iching and pain in my veins an occupational health doctor found the problem. Even after telling him this he told me to keep taking the drug because I did not have a full blown reaction. I also had high blood pressure while on this medication.

This doctor is the worth the wait. He really knows his stuff! I had seen several doctors regarding my condition, and none knew what to do. Dr. Butt listened to my concerns and made me feel very comfortable.
