My brother in law referred us to him 15 years ago. Over this time period, I have found him very quick to refer my husband to a specialist whenever a problem arose, but any of my concerns were met with lack of concern. I once asked if my lower back problems could be improved with orthotics. He said sure, wrote out a prescription for them, and on it wrote "Club Foot". Not true by any stretch of the imagination! Barely knows the basics. I wonder if it's a prejudice against women. I would avoid going to him if I could over the years. I've finally found someone else after a very painful routine Pap Smear procedure and breast exam with him.

Dr. Walpola has been our family physician for many years. He has always made time to see us and never rushes us out the door. He does his best to stay on time but when a doctor is willing to actually listen and discuss medical issues with a patient at times it may become impossible to keep to a strict schedule. I would much rather have a caring doctor who is willing to take the time needed to hear about my problems and prioritizing good medicine rather that one that prioritizes a schedule! Dr. Walpola appreciates both traditional medicine and the value of alternative care like meditation as tools for greater well being. I consider myself and my family fortunate for having such a fine doctor to help us address our physical and mental health. Thank you Dr W and your wonderful staff! Derek

Dr. Walpola has been my family doctor for over 20 years and he is just wonderful. Rather than pushing chemicals on me, he takes the time to counsel me on my lifestyle and shares his wisdom on such alternative options such as yoga and meditation. His gentle and caring manner along with the interest he shows in my health makes me feel uplifted after a visit with him. I feel very fortunate to have him as my doctor.

Dr Walpola helped me to go through a burn out and a depression. I am so grateful to him for his support, understanding and guidance. He gave me the tools that I needed to improve the quality of my life. He is an exceptional person. He is dedicated to his work, has a kind, loving and joyful personality that inspires me. Dr. P. Walpola is our family doctor for just over 10 years since we moved to Pickering, he is genuinely a gift for his patients and medical services. He is not only an exceptional and admired MD in this area but he is a tremendously caring, kindhearted true gentleman. Indeed it’s very hard now a day to find some one so gentle and helpful professional like him. There is an ancient saying in South Asia “The medicine is only half the remedy and the physician’s way of talking is the rest half for the total healing of any illness” I have no worlds to describe how true it is. He takes time to listen and talk to his patients which only makes him to run behind the schedule most of the time. My sincere gratitude for his tireless service, I wish him all the best. Doctor knows basics. He is a typicall drug prescriber with little background information on your problem. Closelly tied to pharmaceutical companies and their wares. Never going to regular doctor again because of him.

Dr.Walpola is a fabulous doctor. Although, a walk-in (after-hours) clinic, the service is just fantastic. He is very efficient and conducts himself in a professional manner. He is very thorough and I have never felt we were rushed. Dr. Walpola takes his job very seriously and genuinely cares about his patients. I probably owe Dr. Walpola my life! Last March (2008) I found a lump in my neck ... it was Dr. Walpola's reaction that made me realize it was something serious and made me take immediate action. He did not want to waste time, so he got the ball rolling and sent me for initial tests. All results were forwarded to my family doctor. By mid 2008, I was diagnosed wtih cancer and shortly thereafter started treatment. I have now completed my treatment, which was successful only because of early detection! Lymph nodes swell for various reasons and I could have been in big trouble if he had not advised me on the urgency of the matter! Thank you Dr. Walpola!

My family has been going to Dr. Walpola for years. He has always been extremely helpful, going above and beyond on many many occasions for my grandmother 96 and my mother, who had MS and is now deceased. My husband and I are now taking our 2 children there and couldn't be happier. Ruth is deffinately amazing too! what a great team!

Always helps out and actually listens. Even if he doesn't know the answer (no one can always know) he will find out for you, I have even had him look up drug info for me right then and there! Understands my needs, although sometimes unconventional and respects them, even if he doesn't agree. I couldn't ask for more from a doctor. Also Ruth is great, I have seen another person at the front desk and she is not as personable as Ruth.
