I have had the pleasure of having dr. Smit be my doctor for some time. Have had many things plaguing my body that requires me to have a doctor who I can work well with and dr. Smit is definitely one of them. He takes the time to sit and listen and works with you to come up with the best solution. I've never had an issue with any of the specialist he has sent me to either. An overall 10 of the 10 as he is been looking after my family for many many years.

One of the BEST doctors I had in my life...not a pill pusher and find him so easy to talk to and he LISTENS!!!!! Hopefully he will be in Vernon for a very long time!!!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Smit for the past four years and what a lucky strike it was. During this period he keeps me going steady despite the fact that my case is in times complicated. He is a very good doctor. He practices science based medicine but is open discussing other possible solutions like physiotherapy, nutrition, exercises, etc. He is very methodical, eliminating one thing at a time to solve even pretty complicated ailments. He has a nice personality; he always greets me with a fine smile on his face. Dr. Smit is my AAA physician.
And Kathy at the front desk – well, Kathy is the best.

Kathy the office manager is fantastic , she has gone out of her way to make room for me to see Dr. Smit she has more medical knowledge than some health professionals.
Dr. Smit develops a very real empathy for patients , I am in a wheelchair therefore I have some different challenges than others , Gideon has an understanding of this better than some rehabilitation Doctors . We have plenty of outstanding doctors in Vernon , Gideon shines right up at the top .. SS

He's been my physician for a few months (met him at the gym a couple years ago). He's simply the best, would recommend him to absolutely anyone. Being in the medical field myself I can tell he really knows his stuff; very intelligent. He is kind and listens.

Dr. Smit is the best doctor I have ever had. He is always on time. He is compassionate, caring, thorough, very knowledgeable, and he truly cares. He wants everyone to be healthy and productive, leading a quality life, and will do everything possible to help you achieve that. Love Dr. Smit! And Kathy, at the front desk, is always pleasant, accommodating, funny and professional. Love her too!

Dr. Smit is so awesome!!! I am so grateful I got him! The first time I ever hear a doctor say, " don't worry I won't stop until we find out what's wrong". Much respect to Dr.Smit.

I honestly cannot even begin to express how grateful I am to have such an amazing Doctor like Dr. Smit. He is the first doctor that I have ever trusted. He has restored my faith in Doctors! He is extremely knowledgeable and very understanding with every medical issue I've ever come to him with. He's the doctor you want on your side. He doesn't just brush you off or do quick fixes he actually helps find the root of every problem whether it's arranging referrals to specialists or taking matters into his own hands. He makes things happen and fights for you on your behalf! And you know by his bed side manner so to speak , that he genuinely cares for you! You don't always feel that with some doctors. He will always be honest with you and upfront, but he does it in a way that I feel is necessary and understandable. He answers every question I've had and has given me a wealth of information. He's always been on time I rarely ever have had a long wait to be seen. The ladies at the front desk are Wonderful and extremely helpful as well. The main receptionist is very encouraging friendly and accommodating to scheduling me in promptly. Upon numerous occasions when I've been in excruciating pain she has made my visits there very enjoyable and light hearted. That is another thing you don't always come across within a doctors office. So overall, Dr. Smit and his staff are hands down by far the best experience I've ever had with Doctors and appointments. 5 stars all the way! -JR

The front staff lady is sometimes quite rude on the phone and even offensive. I think he's an okay dr if you have one question. More than that seems to be an issue. I had one issue that I believed needed some more looking into that he disagreed with however another opinion agreed with me not him.
