Should NOT do more than clip toenails. She botched a simple bunionectomy by accidentally removing 1/2 inch from my big toe. I had to go to a real doctor and have a joint replacement as a result!

I am making a complaint about Dr. Kelly Powers and her assistant Shakira.

My surgery was scheduled for 5/16 at 9:45 am. I had my pre-op appointment with my primary care provider and Dr. Powers on the same day. I was ON TIME from my appointment and her assistant came out and said to me that she cannot see me that day because of an unexpected procedure. She stated that she were only running 20-30 minutes behind. I then told Shakira that I could not reschedule (my surgery was 2 weeks away at this point) and she said that she would see me for a few minutes now in which I signed the paperwork, I got my prescription she sized me for my boot and then she gave me my boot and you were talking to us from whatever room you were in. Dr. Powers felt that did not have my pre-op, which confuses me. Why did she give me my prescription? That sounds like a pre-op to me.

Also, Dr. Powers and Shakira maintain that they called me numerous times. They did not. I checked my phone records from my provider, no phone calls were made as stated by Dr. Powers and Shakira.

On 5/15 Dr. Powers leaves me a voicemail today around 3pm-ish cancelling my surgery…I am speechless about her lack of professionalism. Who does that? For the record I didn’t get that voicemail until 6:30 pm, and the office was closed, real nice. As a provider she should be ashamed of herself for conducting herself in that way. I already had arrangements with the surgery center. I better not get a charge because Dr. Powers cancelled my surgery. I took off of work for this surgery and now I have to start the process all over again.

I have been a patient at Westmed for many years, and I am sorry that Dr. Powers and Shakira are a part of Westmed, because with their ethics, they both shouldn’t be. I couldn’t be more disgusted by their way of patient care.

Wonderful experience. Helped me calm my anxiety while getting a procedure done. Answered all my questions and was very patient with me. Highly recommend her to anybody! Best experience ever!

Wonderful experience! I went to Dr. Powers barely able to walk - Morton's neuroma - Dr. Powers did a thorough examination, explained everything, gave me the proper shots, and I am back on my feet and walking my 5 miles a day again. Wonderful, professional staff, clean, well run office, and a knowledgeable and caring doctor!

Dr. Powers was very thoughtful to schedule me into her busy schedule. I am grateful to have been able to see her. I found her to be professional and patient with me even though I had a million questions about my ankle sprain. Thank god, no surgery!

I was so relieved to find Dr. Powers, my 10-year-old daughter ended up getting some kind of infection in her foot, I was extremely worried that it would spread into her bloodstream . Dr. Powers was not only able to squeeze me in on a Friday afternoon but took such great care of my daughter who absolutely loves her ! My daughter ended up having an infected ingrown toenail, Dr. Powers was extremely gentle, loving and caring . She explained everything step-by-step to myself and my daughter allowing my daughter to stay calm and be part of the procedure taking the anxiety out of it . Can't wait to make an appointment for myself, Dr. Powers is so knowledgeable we are definitely lucky to have found her ! Plus she has a great smile that will brighten up anyone's day.

I appreciated the time and thoroughness with which she explained the issue I was having with my feet, and the options that were available. There also was a kindness and humanity which I valued since so many doctors now a days are rushed and pressured to perform.

Dr. Powers is not only very knowledgeable and experienced, she gives very clear explanations of the situation and how she will address it. In addition, she also lets the patient know what the effects are of each procedure she administers. Also, she is very understanding and friendly.

What a relief it was to finally find a doctor that took the time to assess my situation and clearly explain how we were going to address it. Dr Powers was extremely knowledgable and friendly. I did not feel as though I was being rushed (like I have with so many other doctors) but rather that she was taking a genuine interest in my health and rehabilitation. I know I am in the best possible hands with Dr. Powers as I continue to make great strides towards complete recovery. I HIGHLY recommend her!
