I visited Yana Garger, and spent a few minutes with her going over my A1C test results and my medications. I left her office and six months later received a notification from the Department of Motor Vehicles notifying me that my driver’s license would be suspended due to epilepsy. Later on, thanks to freedom information act, I was able to find out that it was her, the endocrinologist that I saw for 5 minutes, that because I take anti-seizures meds wrote to the DMV to report that I suffered from seizures, and was an epileptic.
She makes decisions that are out of her field of training, grasp and understanding. Since my diagnosis as an epileptic I have seen a multiple of doctors and medical professionals, I am under the care of a reputable hospital and its neurologists, none of the medical professionals I have ever seen or come in contact with have ever seen me as a danger to myself or others on the road. My seizures are under control and I am a responsible person. I would never get behind the wheel if I ever I felt that I was not well. I very rarely drive and mostly depend on my family to take me to where ever I may need to go. Garger never inquired about the care that I was receiving or the systems,, nor the precautions that I take. Not all epileptics are the same; the degree of seizures experienced can be different. Like me, some people are aware of the beginning of a seizure, or that they may experience a seizure, possibly as much as hours or days before it happens, this is called an aura. Garger with no valid knowledge of my medical condition and the cause of my epilepsy made the decision to have my driver’s license suspended. The irony here is that she just recently joined the practice that turned me into an epileptic, Columbia Doctors. If you need good medical care and support stay away from her she will throw you anchor instead of a lifeline.
