Dr. Gwathmey is dismissive and does not ask questions before reading your tests and coming to his own conclusion. If you are not an athlete at UVA, he is not interested in treating you.

Dr Gwathmey performed a labral repair on my right hip and I am so glad he was the guy to do it. He gives off a aura of confidence, that the best performers in the world have. He explained everything that was going on in my hip and everything he did to it as well as being super responsive and supportive postoperatively with my physical therapist. If i had to do it all over again i would do the exact same thing and go to see Dr. Gwathmey

Wishing I'd never had this procedure, because several months have passed, and this doctor wasn't able to figure out why my leg is still swelling, and why I'm experiencing pain, weakness, and loss of mobility. Finally, a physical therapist (someone WITHOUT a medical degree), was able to determine that I'd developed chronic trigger points (which are essentially severe knots in the muscle fibers), after the surgery. Now I'm having to pay more money to receive trigger point injections from an Anesthesiologist in Pain Management. I've suffered in pain, losing months of mobility and months of my life unnecessarily. Again, I wish I'd never had him perform this procedure, it's been a PAINFUL EXPERIENCE!
