I’ve been a karate practitioner for over 30 years so imagine the punishment my feet have endured. 8 years ago she performed big toe surgery that was based on the specific needs of my sport and my lifestyle. Since this time time I have run numerous half marathons and two full ones. I have continued to practice karate unimpeded by previous pain.

8 years on and it’s time to have my other big toe done. I would only ever see her again as she is thorough, experienced, caring, and has excellent post op care.

I saw this doctor to have my bunions sorted out. I specifically chose a woman doctor because I mistakenly believed she might have a better bedside manner and be more compassionate and caring. The only thing she cares about is lining her pockets. Her knowledge and surgical skills are what you would expect but she knew I was on a budget and she did nothing but take advantage of the fact that I wasn't familiar with the process to rip me off time and again. To start off with I received a quote for around $8K to fix my bunions and based on that quote I decided to go ahead. It was only after the operation when the bills started rolling in that I had the very distressing realisation that that 8K, was only for one foot. I was so distressed I didn't know what to do. I said to her, I came to see you about BOTH feet. It was always both feet, I never once mentioned anything other, why would you only quote me for half the procedure? She said it was my choice if I wanted to proceed or not. My choice now I'm halfway through and had to borrow the money for the other half. Not much of a choice. She also never advised me I had a choice of hardware that could have saved me hundreds of dollars. The very nice lady at the hospital pointed out the surgeon had chosen a titanium bolt for the left foot however if I chose stainless steel for the right I would save hundreds of dollars, so I did. Her recommendation for anaesthetist was a nightmare. The guy was not only incompetent, couldn't get a needle in me, he butchered me on the table to the point I was telling him ' you are hurting me, please stop' as he stabbed the needle in both arms without success and then the back of my hand, he then charged me $1200 for his 'work.' The second operation I demanded another anaesthetist, Dr Polly was an angel, super professional and charged me considerably less. To top it off, Dr Grey recommended custom orthotics at a cost of $700 which I have since discovered were extortionately overpriced, don't fit in most shoes and only lasted about three years. She also never mentioned to me the possible side effects of the surgery, I ended up with chronic tendonitis in both ankles which made walking excruciatingly painful for years after. On checkups she never once asked how I was, only OHHHH, look at my work, look what I did, aren't I good..etc. Also, I never got the feeling back in one foot and post-op she said she would have to re-operate the other foot to adjust the hardware which the x-ray showed wasn't flush with the bone but then she decided against it.
Do yourself a favour, shop around and ask a million questions.
