Dr. Caputo was recommended to me as an adult with strabismus by every other doctor I came in contact with. I had had surgery when I was 2, and again when I was 21, and then finally with this man in the early part of this decade. Beyond lining up my eyes perfectly, he told me the truth and for me it was a first. He told me that quite possibly I would again need surgery (so far no) and talked over some of my painful childhood memories of not being able to engage in sports because I wasn't sure where the ball was - or having to wear glasses that at least today are cute. He helped me understand pieces of my childhood that left me in pain and he is as all of my other doctors said, the ONLY doctor to see for strabismus surgery. And he is a good a decent man who donates great blocks of time to working worldwide with poor children who need him. Just the best.

My strabismus was so bad from ages 15 - 18, I could not drive at night or see the teachers blackboard at school. I went to Dr. Caputo who operated on both my eyes at the same time and literally gave me a 100% vision correction. I woke up and could see out of both my eyes at the same time for the first time that I could remember. Other doctors promised 50 - 80% less wandering but Dr Caputo pretty much fixed everything in one fell swoop when he operated on me at age 19. I'm 35 now, my vision is fantastic, no glasses, and the surgery changed my life. This man is an expert in the field and I believe the best doctor to perform this type of surgery. If you have to get this surgery, travel to him and pay whatever it costs.

I am 28 and Dr. Caputo operated on me in the early '80's. He is the most kind, gentle doctor I have ever met. I recently had some vision issues and returned to him for follow up after 17 years. He remembered me and had my chart. This man is amazing and I would recommend him to anyone. Absoutely wonderful!

Dr. Caputo performed strabismus surgery on me for intermittent exotropia. He is a very kind man, but I feel he "dropped the ball" with me. He assured me that I would be completely happy with the results, however, I am not and it has now been well over a year since my surgery. Prior to the surgery, I experienced a "lazy" eye that sporadically drifted outward. He said surgery on my eye muscle would correct it and make it stationary, which it did, however, he overcorrected it. So now my eye no longer drifts, but the muscle is too tight and my eye turns in just enough to create permanent double vision, which I never previously suffered. He claims additional surgery will make it right, but two muscle specialists have advised not to have additional surgery because I have too much scar tissue, I now have severe dry eye, and my eye will not heal correctly with second surgery. I was not satisfied with Dr. Caputo's follow-up care and he was not diligent despite my post-operative problems.

he operated on me when i was around 8 years old after i got poked in the eye with a stick, and i was one of the the first laser surgery performed in the US at that time i believe...he expanded my pupil that had been damaged (dont ask me how!)...anyway the eye was pretty much shot from the accident, but i can see some blurry light peripherally thanks to him, but what i am so glad is that he later developed a technique that kept my bad eye "straight"-not drifting due to lack of use...which helped me isnsofar as it helped/helps hide that i am blind in one eye...they man is the best, i would recommend him to anyone especially great with kids...i only found this site during a google site as i was curious how he was if he was still in Roseland...

Dr. Caputo is an amazing man. I have gone to see him for 15 years and I am only 16 years old. I was legally blind when I was borne, and he got me out of glasses! I still go see him, and he even performed surgery on my eyes. He is the most wonderful eyedoctor no the most wonderful man in the world. I owe my vision to him
