Terrible and unprofessional dr. Read your full mammogram reports from the diagnostic center not Dr. Spier's office. If you have dense breast, it might be missed. Make sure you are being sent for the correct tests.

Everything was fine with dr spier until i got to 38wks gestation. I am a perfectly healthy woman with a perfectly healthy pregnancy and without ASKING or warning or saying ANYTHING at all-- He stripped my membranes!!! I should have filled sexual assault charges. I regret not doing so to this day. He asked to check my dilation, as usual, put his hand in, and started vigorously wiggling around. I immediately clamped my legs on him and demanded to know what he was doing. To which he replied, "oh, stripping your membranes." Besides not asking me, nor did i consent to such an act against my body, i EXPLICITLY told him that i did not want him to strip my membranes only 2 weeks earlier-- when 4 other women had warned me that he did it to them WITHOUT CONSENT. So i told him point blank during my appt 2 wks earlier. On top of that when i went into labor he told the delivery nurse to HOLD MY LEGS SHUT!!! Because he was "only 5 minutes away"!!! Or was it bc he wouldnt get paid if he didnt do the delivery??? Either way, a *long* time later he showed up (while i was screaming with back labor, projectile vomiting, and on pitocin the entire time) he came and *allowed* me to birth my baby. He was born with a huge swollen vagina shape hematoma on his head bc he was crowning and that psycho nurse was following these draconian orders!! Had i known better, i should have filled a complaint against both of them.

He stripped my membranes without asking, without consent, without even telling me. I told him just 2 wks earlier, at my 36 wks appt that i do not want him to do that-- bc multiple woman warned me that he had violated them by stripping their membranes without consent. I should have filed assault charges.
Then during delivery he told the nurse to HOLD MY LEGS SHUT bc he was "only 5 minutes away". My baby was born with a big vagina shaped hematoma on his head from crowning for so long.

In 2005, I found Dr. Spier on the internet and decided to give him a try based on an article of his office's efficiency and paperless practices (something that was so innovative back then). I have been a patient of Dr. Spier for over 10 years . I have had two high-risk pregnancies; he delivered my twins and my singleton baby with the utmost professionalism. His office is amazing and efficient. He's caring and compassionate. Additionally, he stood with me when the hospital staff wanted to bully me into signing a document that would have gone against my religious beliefs. His office is always clean and incredibly sterile. Time management is a priority, they never over book their appointments, and you are never asked to wait hours in the lobby "waiting on the doctor" as was the case with my previous OB/GYNs. I have been so satisfied with his care that I still see him for my gynecological care and I always refer my friends to him. Many of my friends have entrusted him with their deliveries and also continue to see him on an annual basis. Moreover, the fact that he has been able to retain the same staff for that long shows that he's an amazing person and boss. Teresa, Tiffany and Lee have been his core. It is normal to have medical assistants come and go as they develop professionally but that is no reflection on him except that he has mentored many of them and they have moved on with their careers. He has been a Chief of OB/GYN at Memorial and now sits on their Executive Board. This man is serious about what he does and loves his job. Please give him a try and do not accept the negative comments below.

I happen to both be a patient and a friend of Dr. Spier and I am very sad to see some of the comments posted here. I happen to know that he recently had to let a medical assistant go who was not honest about her credentials or her capabilities and since then has had comments like these appear on several web sites. He had nothing but the highest of integrity and ethics and takes care of me and several of my relatives. It's a shame that anyone can go online these days and attempt to destroy someone's reputation like this.

When I and my insurance company was asked to explain the bill the doctor said I don't know. My insurance company was asked to compose and send a complaint against this doctor. He ignores the rules and scares collectors

His staff is probably the worst staff I have come in contact. There always seems to be a new girl "training to be the new Lee" and she is usually gone soon after. There is obviously a reason. Their last girl was AMAZING and informative, and she's gone. The office manager seems to like to gossip more than actually help out her patient's.
Dr. Spier just throws the speculum inside a sink where people wash their hands. Its digusting. I seriously wouldn't send my worst enemy there.

Dr. Nigel A. Spier's response
Unfortunately, one of our employees had to leave because of a personal issue. We have a very high standard for our employees, and while it has been a challenge to find a suitable replacement we are thrilled now to finally have our full team together, as well as welcome a highly experienced and friendly nurse who we have worked with before and had been the nurse of a trusted colleague and former partner for many years. When our patients come to see us, we make every effort to make them feel relaxed and "part of the family" as if they were coming to visit a neighborhood friend. It has served us well over the years and I believe is one of the main reasons we have had almost no turnover except in this one position for the last 10 years.

As for the comment regarding the sink, it is an instrument sink. That's what it's there for. All the speculums are subsequently put in sterilizing solution and autoclaved. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to inform and educate our patients.

I was very unhappy with my pre-natal care! He did an excellent job with the delivery--when he bothered to show up... My complaints: Inaccurate and manipulated information about pre-natal care and development; Apparently thinks its crazy to want informed consent before he does whatever he wants during an office visit; He screamed and threatened me when I did not immediately consent to his recommendations. I've had more level-headed conversations with irrate teens. I didn't know whether to cry or sue him.

The staff and Dr. Spier have all been a pleasure to know. I had my second pregnancy visits all with Dr. Spier but was delivered by Dr. Aranson. I have ZERO negative things to say. Dr. Spier does not talk a lot, at all! He is straight to the point - but answers every question. I had a natural delivery. No epidural! Dr. Spier encouraged that I do what I felt was best and Dr. Aranson came into the delivery room knowing ahead of time what my wishes were. Now I am pregnant with my third child and of course, went back to Dr. Spier to proper, professional, knowledgeable service. I give him and his staff an A++
