I have had two surgeries from Dr. Naftulin on my great toe. The first surgery in 2008 to place an Arthrosurface HemiCAP was a success, After three years, the joint had restricted again from osteophyte growth. Naftulin recommended an upgraded HemiCAP implant to replace the existing prosthetic. This surgery was an unmitigated disaster. His stated plan was to remove the contact surface of the old implant from the socket it had been placed in, and place the new HemiCAP surface in the old socket that he previously placed in the metatarsal bone. After the procedure he stated he had difficulty maneuvering in the surgery site as "it was tight"and was unable to get the old HemiCAP out, so he cut the entire unit, socket and all, off the end of my metatarsal and installed a new socket with the contact surface in it. My toe was now 7/8" shorter than before and all of the alignment of tissue, tendons, and sesamoid bones were completely ruined or offset such that the toe has never functioned again. I have no use of the toe despite 7 years of follow-up surgery, therapy, and consultations from Naftulin and seven other surgeons and therapists. This has caused the adjoining toes to painfully deform to compensate. I cannot run or play sports. I cannot walk without pain, and my gait is so affected that now I have severe back pain as well. I felt this was malpractice, but after consulting with attorneys, I have not pursued a lawsuit due to the high cost and low chance of a successful verdict. Unless he has changed his ways, I would avoid him at all cost.

I had a great experience with Dr. Keith Naftulin and his staff. I had an ankle issue that was nagging me and Dr. Naftulin diagnosed it quickly and the solutions/remedy was very effective so far. Strongly recommend this office if you have a foot or ankle issue!
