Please be very cautious if using this doctor. At the age of 32, I had back surgery for a fusion in my lower back. Before I left the hospital, I told all nurses and Dr. Mason that I was having extreme pain in my leg. He repeatedly told me he didn’t do anything to my leg so quit bringing it up. He sent me home, and I nearly died. The pain in my leg actually was a line of blood clots. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive that diagnosis until I was rushed to Little Rock with a huge blood clot in my lung. My family was called in, and we were pretty much waiting for me to die. I could not be given a clot buster due to the large size of the clot. Pieces would be big enough to cause death as well. If not for an interventional radiologist who was working her first day on the job, my two children would have been motherless and my husband a widow. She happened to see the scans making their way around the hospital because of the unusual size of the clot. She had worked at a huge hospital in Texas and thought she could save me. Save me she did. In the end, I had two clots pass through my heart and settle into my lungs. I had to have those removed and had to have a permanent filter put in because of the long line of clots that still lined my leg. The damage caused by my blood clots was life changing. I had to take Lovenox shots along with Warfarin for a year. I had to have bloodwork twice a week during that year to ensure my blood levels were where they should be. Not only did I tell Dr. Mason before leaving the hospital, but I also told him during an appointment a few days later. He told me he thought when I went back to work I would quit thinking about myself so much. I now get short of breath often, have sharp pain when I take breaths, lost function of half of my lung, and take medication twice daily for the damage done to my heart. The hospital told me blood clots should have been his first thought with a post op patient. I called his office and spoke to his nurse to let him know what happened as well as emailed him personally. Not once did he call or contact me in any way. His book keeper did call wanting payment of the balance after insurance even though I was not released by the pulmonologist and cardiologist to go back to work until a year later. That was detrimental to my family to lose the income of one of the parents in the home. I will never know why Dr. Mason didn’t listen to me during that surgical post op time, nor will I ever understand how someone could be so negligent. I was 32. I was a wife, a daughter, sister, aunt, but most importantly, I was a mother. I was a mother with a four and a five year old. I could have died in my home with them while my husband was at work. The only reason I didn’t was because I refused to accept that a stranger knew my body better than myself. Don’t ever let a doctor convince you nothing is wrong. You know yourself better than anyone else. Don’t take his word as the gospel just because he thinks he is God. If I had refused to listen to him and immediately gone for a second opinion, I wouldn’t have suffered the last ten years struggling to get off oxygen and having extended hospitalizations for heart damages. Please, listen to your body more than you listen to him. Get another opinion even if you do not think you can afford it. You can’t afford not to. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I nearly waited too late to seek another opinion. I nearly ended up six feet under.

4 years ago I went to see dr Mason, he was one out of 11 I seen and he told me I was too young nothing was wrong that I didn’t hurt like I said I did for 4 years I was in agonizing pain and finally I found a surgeon to help me who said if dr Mason would have done my surgery 4 years ago I would have been out of pain sooner less recovery time so I do not recommend dr Mason to anybody under the age of 50 because he isn’t helpful to anyone he believes is telling him they are in pain if they are younger than 50

I was so disappointed in the surgical process, I am a nurse and should have just stayed with my home hospital for the procedure. I was treated very poorly by his staff, after surgery I was left alone for several hours and my husband kept trying to get me help and the staff ignored the call light. I had such high hopes for Dr. Mason, but his whole staff are rude in the office and don't act like they care. Forget follow up care after the initial visit, and be very cautious financially! they gave us one price ($1200), we paid, then after the surgery we were expected to pay so much more ($1400) after subpar care. It is a VERY expensive facility

I had a carpal tunnel and a discectomy by Dr Mason in 2016. After each procedure they were just a phone call away to help with info.A Great Doctor and the staff is excellent. I have recommended others to him. Also the Arkansas Surgical center was awesome also. His staff would answer my questions each time I called. Very organized and very professional.

Dr Zach Mason is an mulesbehind. We went to get just an opinion, and he won't even look at you unless he is ur only choice.. you can't have anyone elses opinion.. if u do he won't even consider looking at you.. no matter if it's an emergency.. I'm going to be telling everyone I know not to use him..

The doctors and hospital are bad. I should know. I've been through enough with them that I will never use any of them again.
