Dr Sernik had already decided there was nothing he could do for me after viewing my x-rays. Upon meeting him he said he could do surgery if I wanted but his colleague would do it as he was off for the weekend - but the surgery wouldn't make a difference anyway. I'm not even sure why he scheduled me for any appointments. All he did was have more x-rays taken at the Vernon Hospital (which could have been done in my home town 45km away). He gave me no hope of, and told me I would have pain for the rest of my life. He didn't even suggest physio, I asked had to ask him for a referral. I felt that I was an inconvenience to him.

Dr. Sernik replaced both of my hips. I was essentially crippled and am now playing golf 4 times a week and have so completely become unaware of them that the last time I went through airport security, I forgot to mention them. Mistake! lol Excellent surgeon and a great guy.

Dr Sernik performed a flexor tenotomy on my left foot. The entire experience took less than an hour, and 2 1/2 weeks later, I am happy with the result. He's very personable and seemed rather knowledgeable with a lot of experience. It was done with a local anesthetic and the freezing hurt less than I'd anticipated. Grateful I was given this option as it will relieve much of the tendon pain etc in an inflexible hammertoe. I definitely recommend Dr Sernik.

I can’t say enough about Dr Sernick. He accepted me outside of my health region as I could not get on a waiting list (told I was too young and wait lists too long.) Within two days of emailing his clinic I was contacted and told what I needed in order to get a referral. Within four months I had a consultation over the phone at which time he recommended and scheduled me for a total hip replacement. Two weeks from the phone consultation I had an in person appointment where I travelled to Vernon for an examination and to attend an information session. His entire staff and Progression Clinic was so impressive! The way in which he interacted with his staff was supportive and respectful. I had surgery three weeks ago and feel very optimistic if a great outcome and excited to think I can return to the activities I missed the last two years in addition to a return to work. While travelling 8 hours, staying in a hotel before and after surgery and having to travel BC roads in the winter wasnt ideal, I always knew having this surgeon to perform my hip replacement was well worth it, I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Sernick. He is everything one would hope for in a surgeon, personable, sense of humour, caring, current and skilled. I hate to think how much longer I would have waited and what condition I would be in had I not been told about Dr Sernick.

While his explanation of the issue was good, once he decided it was non surgical, (which I already knew), he brushed me off, his manner was belittling, he made assumptions and he put words in my mouth. I left his office with no plan and no hope. Pain seemed to be a trigger for him, he told me that my pain (which I rarely have) had a psychiatric component, and offered no insight into how it could be managed.
