I have been going to Dr. Toig for over 10 years. He is smart, educated and I have never had to second guess his actions. I trust him and have never found him negligent, rude, or unavailable. He calls back on the weekends and really cares about his patients.

Dr. Toig is a pompous, condescending, cruel man. A few years ago, during my annual exam, when I was too young and inexperienced to know that I should have stood up for myself (not to mention in a very awkward and vulnerable position) Dr. Toig was sure to point out how obvious it was that I didn't have a boyfriend while completing my exam. As a physician who works with women, you would think he would more sensitive to issues like that, let alone bring them up while I am prone. I can't believe his comments and that he would berate a woman's lack of sexual activity, especially considering the literal position I was in. His condescending comments continued when my exam was done and he was working on my paperwork, while he decided to let me know that the degree I was pursing was useless. Had I been a bit older and not concerned with treating my doctor as an authority when making such comments, I would have taken this scenario as far as I could have. I think that at least now, it's important that other patients and prospective patients know just how rude and inconsiderate he can be.

Dr Gary Toig delivered me at Sequoia hospital and when I was old enough, I started to see him as my primary care physician. He would tell me personal details about my mother's menstrual cycle (being that she's a patient of his), which I found very unprofessional. And then he would share stories of his own daughter in attempts to relate to me?

He also eagerly prescribes any medications, multiple at a time, and gave me many samples to "try" at home. Why is he so quick to hand out medicine to make a problem "go away" instead of trying to find the root of the problem.? He is very persuasive and manipulative in that way. He always seemed so busy that perhaps it was an easy way for him to carry on to the next patient. I always left feeling uncomfortable and now I don't go to him any more.

Very rude, dry sarcasm thats inappropriate. Waiting time to see him is over 2 hours. His assistant dr. Parsa is great! Too bad dr. Toig made me uncomfortable. I had to change doctors. For one, he is very rude and was an **** to me.

On 2/14/2004, Dr. Toig performed a surgery on my wife to remove fibroids from her uterus in preparation for attempting to get pregnant. He left a "lap tape" (ie. a wad of gauze) the size of an orange inside of her when he closed up. This became infected, causing a hydrosalpanx in her left fallopian tube and blocking her right tube with scar tissue. A different doctor removed the wad Oct 2004 and took out her left tube. We tried 7 IVF cycles afterwards, all completely unsuccessful, costing us well over $100K. (Not 1 embryo of 20-25 ever implanted.) We sued him, but he denied any responsibility claiming it was the surgical nurse's duty to count the lap tapes before and after. Eventually, we dropped the suit because his lawyer called so many expert witnesses that it would cost more to sue him than we could win. This case will not show up in the CMA records because we did not "win" it, so we cannot "prove" that the wad caused infertility. You can draw your own conclusions from these facts.

I waited 90 minutes in the exam room for him to show up. When he did, he offered No explanation, no apology. Doesn't return phone calls or emails. I'm looking for a new doc

Recommended CS without clinical warrant just to make it 'easier' on him. If you want to avoid a CS...then avoid this doctor.

I have Dr. Toig for more than 10 years and I always recommend my friends to see him when they are looking for a OBGYN doctor. I think he is very knowledgeable in his specialty and also helpful finding a new Dr. when a referral is needed. The waiting at his office as shorten these years from 1 hour to 45 minutes.
