I was referred to Dr Uppal by my attorney for an emergency. Dr Uppal took me on, did my spine fusion and saved my life.
Yes sometimes there's been a 3+ hr wait to see him (though not as often as in the past) but if a doctor is running behind because he had been doing emergency surgery on someone's loved one or even you I'd rather him be late to the office than what...? Step out of surgery and let someone else finish the job so he'd be ontime for office visits? Please sir, I will wait.
When he has been sitting in front of me never have I felt rushed or not listened to or had my symptoms or situation ever diminished in any way. And I am by no means an easy patient for anyone. I have a medical background and I'm well aware of my own medical situation and when I say I'm no one's easy patient I mean it. But the man has never failed me...I have many, many surgeries performed over the years and Dr Uppal is the only doctor I trust to do them. As far as I am concerned the man is worth more than his weight in gold. If I have to be inconvenienced by a long office wait trust me it wasn't because his golf game ran long and I will (not always the most happy, I am human) but I will wait.

WARNING ....DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. Many years ago when you were unable to pick your own doctors through workman's comp, my company set me up with this surgeon. It was the biggest mistake in my life to let him do surgery on my back. Besides the three to five hour wait past your appointment time every single time, I would lay on the floor in pain after being dropped off by a transportation company waiting to be seen. He has absolutely no regard for his patients. He will act like he cares about you, but absolutely does not. He asked me if I wanted to deal with the pain in my back for life, or have surgery and be healed. Of course, I didn't want to be in pain forever. Who knew it was all a lie. He ended up doing a laminectomy discectomy on two levels in my back, L4/L5 and L5/S1. I had two herniated discs 6 ml out that were pressing on my nerves. When I came out of surgery, I was worse off. I lost all reflexes in my left heel from the botched surgery. And, I had to learn how to walk all over again using a walker. I was a healthy athlete before my injury. When another MIR was done right away, one of the discs was still 4 mm out, and the other was touching the nerve. I was told I needed another surgery. I am so scared to ever have a surgery again. I never thought I could end up with additional body parts with issues because of it. Besides the loss of reflexes in my left heel, I also have major nerve damage in my left foot and walk with a limp permanently. What is really sad is that UPS is still referring their employees to this surgeon. Another coworker that was seen by Dr. Uppal , after him administering a cortisone shot in his spine, ended up in ICU for eight days and almost died, due to Dr. Uppal going in too far and pulling fluid into his spine. Luckily, he lived. All these years later, I am amazed that he is still able to practice. If I could go back in time, I would. My only hope in writing this, is that it saves people from going through a regretful life changing experience.

this doctor is scary unprofessional and rude and arrogant. Now i become to wonder if the lawsuit against him is true? I went there for additional body parts i calim for workers comp evaluation but what i experience is terrible and every time I told him and asked him he insist his opinion . Inever had any experience like this. This doector is the WORST Doctor i ever experience. I was already traumatized wnd injured with my accident and He adds more trauma in me. I will file a complain with the board of medical provider of workers compensation and Medical Board itself.

Never never let this man touch you. He is a crook who can not be trusted. The used the wrong hardware during my surgery and lied about it for 2 years. What recourse do I have today for his negligence ?

Horrible waiting time. No one should have to wait 2 to 4 hours in the waiting room, when you have an appointment. That is the purpose of scheduling an appointment. Inquired with staff if this is an ongoing issue I was told yes. I had to leave after an hour and 45 minutes. There were others waited longer than I. I previously worked in the medical field, this is not good. This is not DMV or the emergency room. Being considerate of others time is just as valuable and not to be taking advantage of. This habitual issues needs to rectified.

This Dr is absolutely involved in one of the largest state of California fraud medical lawsuits the state has ever seen. Dept of Justice is prosecuting. Please be aware! He used non FDA approved hardware for spinal surgeries.

In 2001 I had a cervical fusion performed by Sunny Uppal, and his colleague. The surgery was so bad other doctors had to redo the fusion in 2012. I was not informed of my options regarding bone graft. At the time I was 27 years old. After having this surgery I have never been the same. My neck is on constant pain, the scar from the incision on my throat looks like a mess. Headaches everyday. Needless to say the bone graft on my right hip was so poorly done that it recently sent me to a chiropractor due to the pain in my leg. After reveiwing the x-rays the chiropractor said he does mot know how I am still able to walk. Dr. Sunny Uppal butchered me in more ways then one. I highly recommend that everyone should consider a surgeon other then him. I just became aware of a law suit. I will be contacting the law firm in regards to this case against him and filing a judgment of malpractice. Thank you for spending the time to read my comment.
