Dr. Spring is excellent with psychiatric care.
Kind and patient, and never dismisses a patients feelings, questions, concerns, or knowledge of their own illness/treatment. Dr Spring encourages patients to research (medications, therapy, etc) and then to tell her about what they have found and what treatment path they feel will be best for them. She then will give her professional recommendation on treatment and explain why. It's very important to her that you have information and recommendations from a medical professional as well as yourself, and then work together to come up with a treatment plan that you feel good about. Dr Spring does not push medications etc, just because it's what the medical community sees as the right option. She understands that if the patient is not on board and involved in the treatment that it is not going to work. She is very empathetic and easy to talk to, and is always making sure that she follows up with patients to monitor how treatment is going and any changes that need to be made. This is all through the walk in clinic, I'm not even technically her patient. The walk in clinic posts the doctors schedule so you can ensure you can continue seeing her when you need to go in.

This walk in clinic is great. First of all you can see which doctor is on, get an idea of wait times ( which will obviously depend on the number of patients) and you can ( check in on line ) avoiding the waiting room. Not even in the doors yet, every time my teenage daughters and or I go here we are greeted with smiles and hello’s. All the MOA’S have been wonderful, Wendy and Sam are the two I’m most familiar with, thank you to them. Dr Spring has a very soft spoken voice and a kind/caring personality. She has done so much for my daughter in the past few months that where both very appreciative. All referrals to specialists/surgeons have gone through with no problems. All tests done at the hospital also where not a problem and prescription went through perfectly. We have received calls from the MOA ‘S regarding tests results. She is a doctor that listens to you, ask you your opinion and offer hers, I have so much respect for a doctor who takes the time. We are a very private family and we all feel that the Comox Valley Medical Clinic values that. This is a Walk in Clinic and not a private practise. I’m very great full these clinics exist. Love and Compassion from our doctors, Love and Compassion for our doctors Thank you very much Megan for all your help!!!

Dr Spring is a lovely person and always friendly, but is famous within the community for keeping people waiting and being late. She is always a bit flustered because of this. We go to her for the basics--simple prescription refills and standard aches and pains. I have found that going to her for anything more serious is a waste of time as it takes EONS for things to get accomplished: forms don't get filled out properly, referrals forget to be done, and mistakes are made and there is no followup on tests, xrays, etc. I went in one time for a simple prescription renewal and to let her know my back pain was getting worse and she said "one thing at a time, you will have to come to see me another time regarding your back". I also got a phone call one time from the hospital to "remind" me of my hysterectomy surgery the following day which Dr. Spring had ordered for me months before---the thing is I had never seen her about such a thing! The hospital receptionist was quite puzzled over that one! About 50% of the time my husband's very basic prescriptions are either not dated or filled out wrong so the pharmacist has to call her to clarify and a couple times now I have gone for tests and she has filled out the paperwork incorrectly causing me to waste a trip and then have to go and see her again to fix the problem.
Again.....very nice person with a kind demeanor......but I can't recommend her for more than a hangnail! ;-)

Listened well. Didn't rush. Nice eye contact. My visit with her was very helpful (acute stomach and chest pain.) I'd go to see her again. Wendy, the MOA was also very helpful and friendly.

Walk in clinic visit. I was in obvious agony and distress and worry. She stated she had no experience with my one symptom, but then made the pronoucement "it's probably nothing". When I expressed my concern over side effects of possible medications for other symptoms, she dismissed my concerns that "so many people go on and on about side effects, when somethines there never is side effects". When I asked for what the side effects of taking a specific medication she proscribed for a 2 week dose, she went on and on about possible side effects ...... and then finally clarified IF TAKEN FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. When I stated that I was referring to the two weeks proscribed, she replied very smary "well thank you for stating how I should answer a question". THe lack of empathy is astonishing.

Saved my life. Am very grateful to her. Came to her with blood pressure over 200 and cholesterol levels five times what they should have been. Now I have blood pressure in the 130 range and cholesterol in the lower end of normal. Thanks Megan....W.S.
