After experiencing 8 weeks of extreme back pain from a herniated disc, I was referred to a spine specialist and chose Dr. Moshirfar. When I had my appointment at Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery Institute, I met with nurse Debora Feeney, who caused unnecessary delays in my care and treatment... During my appointment, she referred me to see a pain management specialist and recommended I get a steroid injection and receive physical therapy. However, she said I would first need to get clearance from my doctor who prescribes a particular medication to stop taking the medication for 2 days before and after an injection. It took me 2 weeks (while my pain became even more severe) until I could get an appointment with my other doctor. When I met with him to discuss this, he was furious with her, explaining that there’s absolutely no reason I would need to stop my medication since it has no drug interactions with the steroid treatment. On top of that, when I searched a doctor who provides Epidural Steroid Injections and Physical Therapy services, the first name that came up is Dr. Moshirfar of Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery Institute. Of course, I would prefer to streamline my care by receiving treatment at one facility to avoid waiting weeks to be seen as a new patient, having to fill out additional paperwork, and going through numerous additional evaluations by new providers. I don’t understand why Ms. Feeney would refer me to other providers when her office provides the services she recommended. That being said, I would caution anyone from this practice. I wasted energy, money, and extended the amount of time until I finally received pain relief from another specialist 4 weeks after my appointment with Ms. Feeney.
