Biography
Dr Adrian Aitken is a senior specialist general surgeon well known in Gippsland for his excellence in surgical care and compassion. He is a fellow of the Australasian College of Surgeons and as well as a FRACS he has a PhD and science qualifications. He has specialist skills in hospital based emergency and elective and surgical procedures for abdominal complaints such as gallstones, bowel cancer, endoscopy procedures including gastroscopy and colonoscopy including polyp removal as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. He undertakes keyhole or minimally invasive surgery as appropriate and safe. He operates on all types of hernias including abdominal wall and groin hernias. He has additional interest in melanoma and skin cancers especially of the head and neck and is known for his fine surgical skills and excellent cosmetic outcomes. He does hand surgery including Dupuytren's contractures and excels with carpal tunnel decompression which is done under local anaesthetic. He has facilities at Fitzpatrick House in Sale as well as a facility in Bairnsdale at the Bairnsdale and East Gippsland Specialist Medical Centre. Apart from clinical work Dr Aitken has chaired numerous hospital committees and has had roles in surgical education teaching medical students and hospital registrars as well as positions on RACS committees including associations for the advancement of medical care in regional areas of Australia.

Sound knowledge of my reason for visiting. Didn’t give a lot of take home instructions though regarding rehabilitation. Like most surgeons they’re only interested in the actual job they performed not the aftercare.
