Terrible bedside manner.
Throws around diagnosis and medication like confetti.

Worst Dr I ever met. Was misdiagnosed while under a drug induced manic episode . One summer of experimenting turned into a year of psychological abuse / gaslighting from a "medical professional " How this man even has a licence and hasn't been looked into is beyond me. Was placed on multiple medications and told I was just a drug abuser even though I never had drugs in my system at an of the checkups. He had me so heavily medicated I couldn't work . I told
him the pills made me depressed & he decided to increase the dose vs change medications or listen to me that I was just experimenting and had a single manic episode.
I stopped seeing him, tossed the pills and went on to be a healthy person who never experienced any issues after I got away from his care. Never again had a manic episode but I have lived with the trauma he causes me for the last decade. Run and get another opinion if you are seeing him.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. Great knowledge of medications. Has a great bedside manner and takes time to discuss issues with you. You never feel rushed and is very patient with ever changing mental health needs. A person should feel very lucky to have him as a psychiatrist.

I've never met a more incompetent doctor who cares less about their patients. With no real knowledge of mental health, this man claims to know it all. I've been trapped solely in his opinion most of my life until I was referred to CAMH, where I was diagnosed with a triad of things Gulati never even mentioned. This pathetically terrible man can't tell PTSD apart from regular anxiety, and BPD from Depression. Famously attempted to wrongfully diagnose people with serious mental health conditions simply because he does not agree with the way they talk- with NO backup or explanation. Then, he proceeds to "Fix It" with large amounts of medication that will surely only mess your brain up further.

Please, if you have a serious mental health issue, I BEG you to seek help elsewhere. This man has no idea what he's talking about, and his insecurity is more obvious than his degree. Questioning this man, although you have a right to a second opinion, will lead to you literally being screamed at by this "professional".

I've no clue how he still holds this job.

For this reason, I will never be going back to Ross Memorial Hospital for mental issues ever again.

Absolutely will not listen to you or how you’re feeling. Will not allow other forms of natural medicine. Does not believe in anything other than what falls out of his mouth. Utter trash “professional” and the worst thing to ever happen to my recovery not that I got any from him. The fact that he still has a medical license is another reason I will never go back to Ross memorial.

I couldn't stop getting violent and harming myself. I met with Dr. Gulati on a regular basis and many times in the emergency room where I went when my self harm was out of control and was scaring those around me. He told me that I had schizophrenia, and put me on antipsychotics which didn't help. Whenever I came in and begged him to help me stop harming myself he just increased my dose of antipsychotics. This did nothing to reduce my self harm, yet it negatively effected my performance at work since the pills made me slow and groggy. I told him this but he did not listen. I did my own research and found that none of what I was experiencing was symptomatic of schizophrenia. I told him this tooo, but again he did not listen. Eventually I went a much better Dr. who discerned that I do not have schizophrenia but rather high functioning autism. My life has drastically improved since then. Dr. Gulati is horrible at his job.

Would not listen to me, talked over me, said I was too fat to have an eating disorder. Went to a second hospital and was immediately diagnosed with an eating disorder. This man thinks he knows your entire life story from you saying "i'm depressed". Pitiful excuse for help, and I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Please, if you need help, see literally any other doctor.

Please, PLEASE do NOT work with him!!!

I have been stuck with Gulati for over a year. Due to the pandemic now I cannot wait on the waiting list to replace him. My family doctor even said he is better than nothing, but PLEASE, do NOT work with him.

As I’ve said I’ve seen him for over a year, my appointments are 6-8 months apart. He did not and has not read my profile or client history.

He has denied me medication I need for severe panic attacks, which was a screaming match over the phone, when he did agree to renew them, he did not follow through. Neither my family doctor nor pharmacist received a prescription for them.

Again, my appointments with him are 6-8 months apart. And I am also responsible for booking follow-ups.

During this period he prescribed a medication that resulted in me experiencing tardive dyskinesia so extremely my family doctor fought with him to finally switch my medication, as that reaction would have become permanent (I’d been asking to change for that full year. He told me I just wasn’t drinking enough water and the condition was just in my head). He also argued with me stating this side effect could not happen. He did he tell me any other potential side effects. That in mind now, I’ve suffered an eating disorder since puberty (he did not read my file and shamed me when I had to tell him this myself), this particular medication increased my weight by over half (while I was not eating at all, and working out twice a day for 2 hours). When I asked about this and explained I had begun self-harming more extremely, was not showering, had panic attacks getting dressed for work - because to me, I was a WHALE - he told me a horror story about self-harm. First of all - as if I didn’t already know any?! This story was of a patient that had cut themselves, the wound became infected, and thus her arm was amputated.

MORE SO: He increased my mood stabilizers double overnight, *allegedly* knowing my work hours and profession. I still don’t know how I got to work that morning, or how I got home - furthermore I then passed out on the bathroom floor AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT for over 30 minutes. He increased this medication OVER NIGHT, without even OFFERING a 7 day follow-up, instead he told me to book myself 6-8 months later, and again he did not warn me of ANY side effects.

I could only click one, but I have had in-person visits and over the phone. I will set a time for an appointment and he regularly calls hours in advance, which has frequently interfered with work and school.

Please, please, PLEASE - if you need help, if you need support, if you need medication, if you need a doctor who will listen to you, a doctor who will care about you - PLEASE DO NOT WORK WITH THIS MAN.
