Poor communication, canceled my appointment, incomplete insurance paperwork. Overbooked, rude, just a horrible experience. Don't go there!

Love Dr Rivera, his wife and staff. They have been nothing but nice. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes past my appointment time and never got fat shamed for being overweight. The staff always answers my questions and have always called back within reasonable timing.

He's a decent dr. I loved his wife who is the NP. She's very kind and listens. The staff is really nice. It's hard to get ahold of someone right away but they usually call back quick. The wait isn't too long if he doesn't get a call to the hospital. That's understandable. Decent all and all.

Rivera is a science denier. After several months of waiting for appointment, I finally got to see him to discuss my test results and determine treatment course. Those months of waiting gave me chance to read literature about my condition and study scientific papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals. I referred to journals as Am J Obstet Gynecol, Am J Public Health, JAMA, European Heart Journal, News Medical, etc. Majority of research reports state that risk of cardio-vascular diseases increase up to 3 times for patients like me if treatment Rivera recommended is received. Rivera’s answer on my legitimate - and science supported - concern was to declare those scientific articles wrong and state that his years of experience are more valuable than decades of scientific research. When I commented that Science works, he added that he follows literature in his field. But my request to give me one citation that supports his opinion was ignored. Considering that papers I pointed out were published in time range from 1981 to 2015 the only conclusion I could end up with is that Rivera did not really read scientific journals since at least 1981. A suspicion that seriously question his capabilities as medical practitioner.
Of course, the treatment Rivera recommended would line his pocket with good profit, a fact apparently way more important then blatant endangerment of patient life. And Rivera upped his recommendation with the statement that no other treatment would work in my case. Considering his blatant ignoring of the decades of medical research I do not believe him.
To top this refusal of science he continued to state that I, myself along with other females who have same condition, I’m responsible for my condition because unhealthy way of life. A statement completely uncalled for, especially because my BMI is in normal range, I do not smoke, drink, or take any drugs. Moreover, during my lifetime I participated in athletic and dance competitions winning awards! Plus my diet is Mediterranean.
Also, he does not keep correct notes about patients. Rivera started asking me about medication that he never even mentioned to me as an option nor gave me prescription during first visit. In fact he was pushing this same profitable treatment both times I’ve seen him.
In conclusion, if you have any condition that cannot be handled by midwife, choose some other doctor. Rivera will not provide you care based on the medical research results discovered after 1971.
Let me add, that I am a scientist myself, with more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (published under my first and middle name)

It's unfortunate that the front office and staff sometimes reflect on the physicians but Dr Rivera and Silvia are wonderful. My daughter has been a patient for a long time but recently had the worst experience with staff "Carol". When calling to inquire about a referral Carol basically told me that if I didn't like it to find another doctor. When my daughter called to ask if we could pay cash since there was a problem with my insurance she was told that they had to speak with the doctor because he might not want to see her as a patient anymore since I had called for her to get information straightened out,she claimed that I had said some things that were wrong. I told her that she was delaying my daughters medical care because she was not submitting the authorization to primary but of course primary was blaming them so it was a back and forth issue. I said I was going to file a complaint with Cigna and have them handle the situation. As a mother I have the right to advocate for my daughter especially when her health is at risk. Patient's have the right to file grievances with health plan and department of managed care.I find it hard to believe that Dr Rivera would "dump" a patient in the middle of treatment and violate continuity of care. The staff needs to be replaced or trained on how to be professional and treat patients with respect. Will not be going back to this office and my daughter felt very comfortable with Silvia and trusted her. Not able to speak with Nurse Practitioner or Dr to confirm that they no longer want to see her since the front office will not transfer calls. This will be escalated to another level because it's wrong for patient's to be treated this way. Once again this only relates to the staff not the Dr or Nurse Practitioner!!!

I have been a patient there for a while and will be finding a new doctor, not because I am unhappy with the care I have received from Dr. Rivera or his wife, a nurse practitioner. She is especially sweet and caring. The wait times are ridiculous! I have waited 1 hour and 45-50 minutes for the last two appointments I have been to. Other patients have said the same thing as we all are kept waiting. If you need tp gp tjete kist pnce pet uear ot would be tolerable however if you need anything more you will likely find the office staff is not thorough at all. When I had surgery, I was told I would need to have a chest xray, ekg and blood work done yet as my surgery date neared (10 days prior) I had not heard from the office. I was not given any paperwork or instructions on where to go for said proceedures and knew I needed referrals and had to keep calling the office to ask. It can be difficult to get through and messages often go ignored which makes matters worse. I was ultimately told the referrals would be sent electronically ...well they weren't which meant futher frustration and footwork for me. Obviously these are all issues with the office staff and especially Carol K. who is rude and uncaring.

Dr. Rivera is a great doctor. He is very passionate of his job and makes sure his patients are well taken care of when they are at the hospital ready to deliver. Yes he might have to leave to go to a delivery and it puts your time for app back....but that's any doctor up here not just him. All doctors are contracted with hospitals and have to deliver their patients. Silvia which is his wife and also works there she is a RNP. She is very thorough and listens to any concerns your having.
