My husband, Michael Savoni, was admitted to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak on 7/28/22. We met with Dr. Banka in the hospital and had an appointment held for us on 8/3/22. On 8/3/22, we met with Dr. Banka and spoke to him about getting a biopsy and completing an affirma test on my husbands thyroid. These procedures were performed on 8/9/22. On 8/11/22, we received test results in the patient portal. We did not receive a call from Dr. Banka to explain the results. We called on MANY occasions and did not receive a call until 8/18/22. During this phone call, he explained the test results and asked if we wanted to proceed with the affirma test. (A sample to complete the test was already taken and we provided consent verbally to Dr. Banka on 8/3/22 and on the procedure day.) We provided verbal consent AGAIN during this conversation. Dr. Banka advised that my husband gets his thyroid removed due to cancer concerns. Our meeting with the surgeon was on 9/20/22. During this month, we never received results for the affirma test after multiple conversations with Dr. Banka's office. The surgeon informed us that Dr. Banka did not properly complete the paperwork and the third party lab completing the affirma test had been trying to reach Dr. Banka for over a month without any luck. The surgeon was able to complete the paperwork and get the affirma test completed. The results were sent to Dr. Banka who once again did not follow up with us or the surgeon. On 10/6/22, we learned that my husband likely has thyroid cancer. The affirma test provided us with the most accurate picture. We were told that the test would take 1-2 weeks to get results. Due to Dr. Banka's negligence, it took almost two month.

Dr. Banka took the time to listen to all my symptoms. Then ordered needed tests and followed up. Would recommend him to another with a thyroid problem.
