A simply awful practioner who did not follow due diligence or medical requirements. I found him dismissive, uncommunicative, and sexist and I ended up sicker. I could never recommend seeing him.

Quirky, funny, direct but very knowledgeable and awesome Doctor who is unfortunately no longer in Belconnen Canberra. He helped diagnose my cancer early and was very thorough in all follow up appointments and numerous ongoing diagnostics. We could do with more Doctors like him.

I was quite happy to have Dr Koster as my GP for about two years while he was at Belconnen.

He isn't your typical GP. For some people that's an incredibly bad thing (seeing other reviews here). But for me he was a breath of fresh air.

He clearly knows his stuff. The very first time he saw me he had diagnosed a painful limp that I had written off as part of an unrelated condition as something separate and very treatable. Earned me some visits to ultrasound clinics for enormous needles every 6-12 months thereafter, but he saved me a lot of pain in the meantime!

He also said the unusual meds my specialist has him prescribing for me also gave him good results when he tried the combination for some other patient in a similar situation. Not exactly common or cheap meds, but they're being used as described as an appropriate second choice when usual meds fail or aren't tolerated. Sometimes there's a reason why medicine is called a practice :)

Yes, Dr Koster has hangups about some meds that he refuses to prescribe, even though many other doctors will. But he's quite upfront about that, and there are many other doctors you can see if that's a problem for you. But try and keep an open mind and engage. Ask his opinion. Ask about his specific concerns. Ask what alternatives he'd propose since you're already on them. And if that's too much, or if now isn't the time you want to have those discussions, see another GP, but try having that discussion anyway some day. You might be surprised.

I'm glad that you have options and market competition. It's nice having a doctor you can engage with and truly learn stuff from, even for those six brief minutes.

Dr Koster was my GP for a couple of years before he left the Belconnen practice. I found him very knowledgeable and caring and he has a fun sense of humour.

He avoided prescribing things I did not require when I asked if a specific medication might be useful. I liked this approach as I find some GPs just throw generic medication at you rather than trying to work through your health issues.

I'm sad he has left as he was a great doctor and they are hard to come by.

This 'Dr' is easily one of the rudest, most arrogant, self aggrandising people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I was unfortunately given an appointment with him as my usual doctor was booked out, for my ADHD script. he went on the lecture me that he 'will not prescribe me meth' and that I don't need it, however he thinks I need to be on anti psychotics and mood stabilisers after our only interaction was him yelling at me for trying to get my script filled for a medication I have been on for many years. I was diagnosed ADHD 5 years ago and have had multiple doctors and psychs confirm and reiterate said diagnosis. it is literally on my health record that he had on his computer in front of him. I have no hesitation in saying he is horrifically unprofessional and I doubt he's even licensed. Glad to hear he was fired from the clinic in Belconnen.

Dr Koster was recommended to me by a friend when my previous GP had been unable to find the cause of a long-term ailment. I am very glad that I met him. Dr Koster‘s inquiries were both wide ranging and keenly focused on key issues and I was encouraged by his wholehearted determination to help me. After conducting a range of assessments Dr Koster was able to diagnose a fairly complex medical problem that my previous GP had not picked up. he then prescribed the appropriate treatments and referred me to a specialist. I greatly appreciated his caring attention to me as a whole person and not just a medical problem. Dr Koster is the best GP I have met in my adult life and I hope that many more people will benefit from his expert care. I have read some other reviews and I understand that some people may react to his acerbic and forthright character, which I also experienced when I first met him, but in my view it is wrong to describe him as arrogant or uncaring. He is just a German!

Really bad GP. He snapped at me, rolled his eyes, told me he has x amount of experience, then he belittled me. He was argumentative and aggressive . I left in tears after feeling like he only responded well to me once i gave in to his ego and tried to please him. He made me do some tests and i had to come back to him. He then took my personal mobile number off the system and text me requesting i give him a 5* rating online. I ignored the text but then he text again a few days later to remind me. I felt harrassed and that if i didn't leave a good review then my medical treatment would be disadvantaged.
Im too scared to make a complaint as i know he has my personal number in his phone and i am worried what will happen if i do.

Louis Koster has a bad energy to him! Was disappointed that out of all the doctors at Belconnen Medical Centre I had to get him! Arrogant character and short tempered. Bad listener, do not recommend to anyone living in Canberra.
