ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE !!! Was called out on an emergency visit to my 95 year old mother. Really obnoxious. I was on hold on a telephone call to Santander. He said “HANG UP . HANG UP NOW! Then again…HANG UP ! He was at the foot of my mothers bed who had been screaming with dementia all morning and he had arrived after 5pm. He then said “I’m leaving!” I told him he was ignorant, unprofessional and confrontational. He replied he felt unsafe and said I had told him to leave, which I hadn’t. I begged him to look at my mother. Again he refused. I told him I was going to contact the General medical Council in London, and he left. About half an hour later he telephoned me in a really smarmy voice and I told him all further conversations would be through the GMC. He then threatened to call the Social Services on me, which he did, and the Police. He then called the ambulance service telling them it was an emergency as he “didn’t know if the woman was alive or dead.
The ambulance paramedics examined my mother and stated that she was fine to remain under my care, and was being well looked after by me. Also the Social Services arrived a few days later and said the same thing. Alstead has a reputation that precedes him in Wrexham, and many people I know refuse to make appointments at the surgery if he is the only doctor available. Be very careful if you have any dealings with him…and definitely have witnesses!

Good doctor who listens and really tries to help. Treats a patient as an individual and is open minded when answers to conditions are not known.
