Dr. Abusharr as a doctor is amazing, but his staff is not doing any justice for him. (Have been visiting this office for four years). Since they extended their operation hours he's almost becoming a faceless person. The only available appointments are always with the nurse practitioner and if you ask for the Doctor, he's either out of the office or nothing is available within the next two weeks. If there is an emergency it feels like the staff only focus on the calendar and if there are no spaces available there is nothing they can do for you. In my opinion, if I always have to pay a deductible for any visit as well as my health insurance pays for the service my PCP provides me, that's what you should have; not a doctors replacement (aka, nurse practitioner).

In terms of referrals, in my experience, I have had a lot of issues. For example, the referrals are never on time and when they send them to a specialist, there is always missing information.

Finally, not a long time ago, I made a phone call to the office explaining an emergency situation I was having and the lady that the phone call was transferred to made the attribution to say that the situation I was having was not an emergency after I spent two days at the ER.

Moved to The Woodlands last Summer and thought that Dr Abusharr would fit the bill as a doctor for my whole family. Dr Abusharr is very friendly and knowledgable, however his office staff are unprofessional and disorganized. The receptionist is ignorant, rude and disrespectful. When I pointed out that I found her attitude poor after she had spoken to me disrespectfully she shouted "well have a nice day" at me in front of a room full of other patients. This young woman should NOT be working in a role with people. I don't mind Dr Abusharr, but I am taking my family elsewhere. I will certainly not visit Dr Abusharr again and I would not recommend anyone else to go there (unless you like paying people to be treated badly)

Daughter had an appointment to refill her prescriptions. However, instead of her usual 90 day supply, she was given a 30 day without explaination since the doctor was out and we paid our copayment. Daughter explained she was in college and couldnt just come up each month and was always given the 90 day supply. Office staff could have cared less. When asked for this to be corrected, they charged us $15 for the 90 day supply stating that she could either pay $5 a month and come pick it up monthly or $15 for the 90 day supply because they had to pay for script pads. SERIOUSLY!! It cost the same amount to have one piece of paper say 90 or say 30... Milking the patient for every dime should be illegal!! The worst part was the absolute rudeness of the staff and refusal to explain how the same sheet could cost $10 more just because the amount of days for the prescription was different.

Dr. Abusharr has been my family physician for several years, and while I agree with most people that he is a very personable and knowledgeable doctor, I have been disappointed on several occasions with the lack of communication available to patients following a visit. If you have a follow-up question (e.g. regarding medication) that his staff is not able to answer, it is virtually impossible to get through to the doctor. Of course one can make an appointment to see him, but prompt appointments are not always available, and it shouldn't be necessary for a long standing patient to require an appointment when a short answer/phone call would suffice. I recognize that the doctor's time is precious, but follow-up care is as important as the visit itself. This is an area that needs vast improvement.

I am leaving this comment because I am unfortunately moving and will no longer be a patient. My wife is in the medical profession and consequently we tend to be more sensitive and critical of the profession. With that said, Dr. Abusharr proved to be a wonderful doctor and was always helpful and I felt confident in his skills and judgment. In more affluent areas you tend to encounter doctors who seem more concerned about selling products, pushing procedures, and keeping housewives coming back by prescribing controlled substances. This was not the case with this doctor. My goal was to find a doctor who was still genuinely concerned about healing and keeping people healthy. I can only hope that I find a similar doctor after I relocate. If you are seeking a good family family practice doctor, search no further.

I Don't know what happened to the staff, but who ever they have working there now is great! I almost can't believe the change. They are so friendly, so helpful, such a huge improvement. I am also glad they got rid of the other receptionist, she brought the practice down. The new girl pumps pure sunshine into that place.

I have been with Dr Abusharr since he began his practice in the Woodlands and just want to take this time to let everyone know that he is an exceptional Physician. He has treated me multiple times with expertise and I think the thing I appreciate the most is that he is Holistic in his approach. His kind manner and real attentiveness is rare with Doctors in this day and age. He is a Christian and exemplifies love in everything he does. He has helped me so many times and I am so, so grateful. I would tell anyone to go to him. His medical knowlege is a cut above and again rare to find.

After reading all the glowing recommendations, it is hard to write anything negative. But my experience with Dr. Abusharr was not positive. I went in Friday for a yearly physical and concerns about my low blood pressure and dizzy spells. A nurse had to take my blood pressure four times because she could not get a reading. Then a nurse came in to do an EKG, but the computer was down and I was told to come back another day. I asked at that time to talk to the doctor about my blood pressure and dizzy spells. The nurse told me I could talk to the doctor when I came back for the EKG. I went back on Monday for the EKG and told the nurse that I still wanted to talk to the doctor. The nurse told me to monitor my blood pressure at home and make another appointment if it was still low. When I told the nurse that I had made the appointment on Friday to discuss this problem and again told to go home and come back if the problem continued. Needless to say I will not be going back.

This office is comprised by some of the most inept and unhelpful individuals that i have encountered in medical practices. My family and I had a wonderful family doctor for many years but he recently closed his practice so he recommended we go to Abusharr. We were accustomed to having a doctor who truly cared about his patients and had an open door for all of us... The office is very nice and an incredibly convenient location, but from the moment you step in you feel unwelcome and unappreciated by an unhelpful receptionist who seems does not enjoy her job and makes the check-in experience as unpleasant as humanly possibly. The doctor is a very nice and smart person but is too busy to even be reached or acknowledge a patients concerns. We will not be returning to this practice.

Came across this website by accident, but very interesting comments. I echo the comments about the staff. Pretty sad. They are rude, arrogant, and just not very helpful. Personally, I thought that it was a defense mechanism for not actually undertsanding what they're doing. Then again, the customer service skills are so bad that maybe I'm wrong? It's a shame. Dr. Abushar seems to be a very good guy. If I leave, it will be because of his staff. I'm still on the fence. A good business decision would be to invest some more $ in a better staff. You'll benefit in the long run.
