I remember this. The young girl had fallen on her face and had damaged her front baby teeth. I cancelled my dinner engagement and met her and her mom after 6:pm at the urgent care. She was crying hysterically. Obviously very scared. I recognized that it would be impossible for me to do anything at that time. I assured mom that she would be OK, that the teeth would fallout naturally, but I'd be happy to take them out after the initial swelling came down. The worst thing that I could have done would have been to traumatize the little girl by trying to numb her at that time, and take out teeth that did not require emergency surgery. I did have a doctors appointment that next day, and shoulder surgery soon after.

I had a much better impression on Dr. Matthews until I had an emergency. I called him on a Thursday evening because I was freaking out my daughter fell and had two of her two front teeth loose and one embedded into her gums. I almost had to beg him to come see her in the Urgent care where we were (less than a mile away from his office) and his response was he was in his way out to a dinner auction and the next day he had doctors' appointment. (By the way, he does not work on Fridays or weekends). He probably sensed my dismay because he came to see her but kind of blew me off. He said my 5 year old daughter could pull herself her two tangled teeth and she was already too traumatized to do anything with the other tooth that went inside her gums. To wait a week (after Thanksgiving) to see her tooth. As a worried mother, I was expecting a compromise from him to tell me he would check her right away, go beyond his busy schedule to help a 5 year old and her misfortune. Very sad.
