On April 20th, 2021 I went in to see Frank regarding 3 severe anal fissures I've had since my childhood. I was immediately lectured about not speaking French, then being three minutes late for my 6AM appointment, and then asked inappropriate questions regarding me being transgender.
Things like "before I look, what kind of genitals do you have, have you gotten the surgeries?"
After being examined, despite my plea to be very gentle because of the state of trauma the area was in I can promise it was done rougher than it needed to be. The multiple similar exams I had previously and after Frank did NOT leave me bleeding after the inspection. The other doctors were both gentle, kind and respected the pain I was in.
Next I was prescribed two topical creams / ointments to apply regularly by inserting my finger 2 inches deep into my anus. This caused repeated trauma as I adhered to the regime the following months. This made things even worse when I thought it couldn't become worse.
Perhaps the most inhumane thing about all this was my follow up appointment which was only scheduled ONE YEAR after my initial visit with zero follow up in between. When I went to my follow up, again the exam was rougher than any other one I had. I had a series of photos to document how the sounds had gotten worse over time. In stead of getting help, Frank simply said in a blaise manner that he was dismissing me as a patient because the sounds were superficial and I had nothing to treat. I was shocked.
I sought out the help of another doctor who was able to see me multiple times and schedule and operate on a remedial surgery within less than two months.
And to back up my proof of malpractice, I can see in my Quebec health booklet that Frank claimed insurance for and listed me as receiving a surgery that I never got from him or his practice! I was treated less than human and the length of my suffering was prolonged and dismissed, leaving me in state that caused immeasurable depression.
Leaving the lowest possible amount of stars but the receptionists there were lovely, kind, helpful and empathetic.
