Do not go to this doctor, she is a scam.
I had an 11am telemedicine appointment scheduled, at 11:00am on the dot dr. Manzie opened the video chat. I was in my car and put the car in park in the parking lot. She asked if my 4 yo son was present. No. She said he needed to be present for a neurological assessment and she needed to tell him commands to follow.
I have never seen or spoken to Dr. Vanessa Manzie before. She knew not one reason as to why I scheduled the appointment. I scheduled the appt 5 weeks prior, and First Choice cancelled that appointment last minute, and said all they had available was a telemedicine.
I scheduled the appointment because my son is in speech therapy and I was recommended for behavioral therapy as well, which needs a neurologist’s referral before you can have insurance cover the behavioral therapy.
At no point during scheduling the appointment with Dr. Vanessa Manzie did I agree or consent to conducting an over the phone FaceTime neurological evaluation for my 4 year old son. At no point during filling out 6 (!!!) forms prior to the appointment did it state a FaceTime neurological assessment would be conducted.
I told Dr. Vanessa Manzie I was calling to introduce myself and discuss my concerns and then see what was the appropriate course of action.
She said for legal reasons she couldn’t discuss anything about my son at this time and for me to hold on one moment while she double checked something (??). Then she abruptly hung up the call.
Nothing she said made sense. In what world would a neurological assessment be conducted over a phone screen to a 4 year old child? And if she wasn’t legally allowed to discuss my sons issues with me who did she expect to discuss them with? My 4 year old?
She didn’t have the professionalism to call me back and explain why she abruptly hung up. I called back and spent 45 minutes on the phone while a woman at a call center played messenger with First Choice Neurology office secretary. You can’t even call the office directly!
Then the call center employee said Dr. Vanessa Manzie wanted an in-person appointment 6 weeks from today.
Insurance did not cover today’s appointment and I was being charged out of pocket for a 2.5 minute FaceTime where the doctor hung up on me.
I asked what the billing status was and was told they’ll give me a call back at the end of the day. Highly doubt that will happen.
On the list of worst fears, having a child with neurological issues is near the top. The disregard first choice shows for its patients, the unprofessionalism of Dr. Vanessa Manzie, and the time and effort I wasted dealing with an inefficient , poorly managed office is despicable.
What a disgusting place. And no I won’t be going back.

The workers at this facility are rude and lack professionalism. They lack knowledge and compromise the well being of patients due to their incompetency. Vanessa is friendly and concerned but support staff is much to be desired. There is no coordination of services. You are left feeling as though you are " on your own"
