Dr. Palmer diagnosed my daughter with type 1 diabetes in March of 2014 at the age of 12. We were arriving back to town with a little girl who just competed in a gymnastics competition. Arrived in Fort McMurray with a child that sugars was at 52. He said she is a miracle child cause he could not understand how she made it over 63 and was not in a coma. He got my daughters sugars down to a 3 and was to low then to transport back to Edmonton. We got her sugars to a level she could be airlifted and he arranged for her to fly out with another patient going for open heart surgery. The staff that night and Dr. Palmer were my angels. God put them in our life's at the right time and at the right place. I cannot thank Dr. Palmer and his team at northern lights enough for their quick actions and organization of our child's care from being admitted to Ped's, to arranging a medivac etc... The public do not see the things that go on behind the scenes in an hospital setting. Our staff and teams are not shown appreciation enough for all their efforts, kindness and for loving their jobs and wearing their hearts on their sleeves daily. But to Dr. Palmer and his team this is a sincere thank you from the bottom of our hearts for saving our child that day. We are now just celebrated her 10 year diabetes anniversary. Now a nursing graduate of 2024 at Keyano college and using her heart to help other parents with children.

God Bless you and may every life you impacted have a story to be told.

I was at the hospital for my pre op and while waiting had a severe allergic reaction to medical marijuana and although it's rare he laughed at me and treated me as if I were stupid. I received an epinephrine injection along with prednisone and benadryl which helped and when I asked what I could do until it completely leaves my system his response was benadryl and if it happens again come back...I told him to do his research...he spent more time at the desk talking and telling jokes than helping his patients...I immediately went to my family Dr who took good care of me thanks for nothing Palma

Dr. Palma is unprofessional and frankly unscrupulous enough to lie in order to justify his appalling behaviour in the ER. When I was sent by ambulance to the Northern Lights ER, I was in a lot of pain and had to wait hours for attention. Palma wrote on my file that I had been disruptive when I was not. He forgot the CCTV cameras which did not validate his report. It doesn’t surprise me that he is still working in Fort McMurray and not in a larger city. I think he is ethically challenged and everyone who knows him knows about his lack of ethics. I avoid dealing with him.

I suffered from pains in my abdomen for 15 years and was constantly told it was an ulcer. Finally, after arriving at emerg in extreme pain, Dr. Palma ordered the right tests and 2 benign hemangioma's were found on my liver. He is the best in my books!

My husband has been dealing with an issue with his side for over a year now, yesterday the pain was so bad he went to emergency. He has had many tests done before but nothing to find the actual cause. Dr. Palma told my husband he was not "in the right place" because they only deal with emergencies like "heart attacks" and "people falling from buildings". he refused to give my husband any treatment and dismissed him. My husband was stunned at how unprofessional and how much this man could care less. There was zero bedside manner and his pain was not a concern. I would not want anyone to have to deal with this man. I am loosing faith in the fort mcmurray hospital day by day.

Peter Palma has been the ER Doctor on the front lines of Ft. McMurray's latest population boom. Peter is very profesional and a first rate M.D.
Many people abuse the Emergency Room which saved lives threatned by accidents and violence. If your life were at risk you would want Peter on duty.
If your ill, see your family Doctor, if you are dying see Peter Palmer!

Next time I need to go to the ER, I should ask if he is the one on duty. We can't believe how unprofessional and inconsiderate this doctor is!

My experience with Dr Palma was good. I had a very bad chest infection which was spurred by an ongoing sinus infection. No family doc in the city has been able to write a prescription that could address the sinus infection just a referral to an ENT that's going to take 6 months. Dr Palma wrote a prescription to address both the chest and sinus and 2 days later both are getting better. He made small talk with us and seemed very friendly.

I was in the ER at Northern Lights hospital with a very swollen ankle requiring crutches. Dr. Palma walked through the curtain and immediately commented on how sore my ankle looked and asked about my history. I mentioned no acute injuries and that the condition has come and went for years. Told him tests for arthritis and gout were negative. Mentioned I had a recent MRI that may be if help I wouldn't mind looking at it. He said "I don't do that here". Confused I asked him to elaborate and he went off on me saying I wasn't an emergency and it's not his job to evaluate another doctors results ect. He promptly wrote me a prescription, literally threw it at me and yelled to the nurses that I was discharged. The whole ER was astonished at what they heard. I lodged a complaint with patient relations. Clearly a glorified prescription writer who has issues dealing with other doctors work. Perhaps a self prescription to control his temper/pride wouldn't hurt.

Terrible experience.
