I am a TBI survivor also dealing with extreme post concussion syndrome.

I was receiving treatment at Parkwood feeling absolutely hopeless. Dr Letheren without any obligation to do so came and spent her free time with me to run some tests and very very patiently assist me right into two pairs of glasses that have extremely assisted me in day to day life.

I have been a patient of Dr. Letheren for over 20 years. I find the environment very professional, punctual, friendly, and helpful. Dr. Letheren answers all of my questions and is very thorough. My husband had a eye injury and Dr. Letheren and the staff really went above and beyond to ensure he was recovering. I have had several pairs of glasses over the years and have recently had to change to a progressive eyewear. This can be a challenge for people and the staff took the time to speak with me regarding the changes I may experience. It made a difference with the transition and I would not wear anything else. Our daughter at the age of 4 had to wear a patch on one eye. By doing this she had a chance of her vision being restored. Dr. Letheren and her team explained everything to us and I am so grateful for their guidance. Our daughter now has 20/20 vision thanks to them! Thank you for all that you do for our family.

Dr Letheren is unprofessional, disorganized and overbooks patients, which makes it difficult for her to spend adequate time with each patient. At my appointment, she seemed scattered and was rushing through the vision testing. She isn't patient at all, and does not really entertain questions. She doesn't listen and I left the appointment not feeling confident about my prescription due to her rushing so much.

I met Dr. Cheryl Letheren in 2003 after being involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler truck, resulting in a brain injury. My head was knocked sideways, rather than forward and back and I knew instantly I needed help for my visual problems resulting. I didn't know where to turn but one of the many counselors suggested Dr. Letheren might be able to help. Dr. Letheren was so thorough and supportive, asking 'many' questions, exploring every option in London / Toronto and even considering treatment in the US for the right answer. Dr. Letheren tried so many different ideas - struggling to find the right one for me - she tried various coloured lens, prisms, etc. Throughout all of this the one thing I appreciated the most was that she listened to me - she never gave up and I knew she would find the answer - she wouldn't give up until she did!! And she did!! I have the utmost respect for Dr. Letheren and her staff! She provided excellent care of my husband while he suffered with many age-related problems - diabetes, different cancers, sleep apnea issues, falls etc as he continued to age. Dr. Cheryl Letheren was so gentle as his random sugar testings swung back and forth - She was so patient with him and his needs - retesting as needed. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor under any circumstances. Ruth-Anne Kavanagh, Aylmer, ON

As a Health Care Professional I expect excellence in Health Care this entire office goes over and above .I have had regular eye checks for years but where Dr, Letheren goes over and above is her emergency services when I have had infections or trauma to my eyes,She has seen me right away and came in on A Saturday morning prior to her leaving on a family vacation .I have just had my second cataract and lens implant yesterday I fell a bit bad because as of yesterday afternoon I do not need glasses . I will probably buy a new pair of non-prescription sun glasses from her great selection and very helpful staff. Thanx Jeff warren

Highly recommend Dr. Letheren. Her staff are very considerate and helpful. Knowing I can't see without my glasses, they were most accommodating to insert temporary contacts to ensure I could see myself when selecting a new pair of glasses. Much appreciated and a time-saver.

DO NOT consider this team to look after your family. They are lacking basic human care, kindness and compassion in their practice.

THE WORST experience I have ever had with a doctor. Having a brain injury means I perceive the world around me differently. In fact, that’s why I was referred to a NEURO-Optometrist. My first experience with the doctor was uneventful. 2011 she wrote a report for my insurance company and updated my status. 2013 I went back for a test and was given prisms (my eyes are starting to cross - in fact, it’s very noticeable when I’m tired). This past Friday I went back for another test as I am noticing I am seeing shadows of letters when reading (even with my glasses) and my eyes are getting tired.

From the very beginning of the appointment she was in a rush and visibly irritated. She rushed through the tests, asking “which one is better: 1 or 2, 2 or 3, 3 or 4.” The options were flashed by so quickly that my brain didn’t have a chance to process what I was seeing. I asked to see the options again, which was made to seem an inconvenience. I stopped her and explained that the difference between 1 and 2 was not clearer but that 1 seemed more squished than the taller option in 2, but both seemed equally fuzzy.

She responded with an outburst of exasperation and said “I don’t know what you expect of me. You see 20-20. I can’t help you!” I began to cry and this caused her even more frustration. I offered to wipe my eyes and start again but instead she rushed me out, suggesting she would have to squeeze me in for another quick 5-minute appointment in two weeks (what she hoped to accomplish in 2wks I had no clue). At the desk she told the receptionist, “I know there is no time, but see if you can find 5 minutes to squeeze in a quick appointment in 2wks.”

So now she had not only communicated very clearly that she had zero patience for my issues or concerns, but she is saying she doesn’t have time to deal with my needs as a patient (who has a significant head injury and has no one to advocate for her except herself).

Today I called a neuro-Ophthalmologist (MD) I had seen a few years back for an eye-infection. If there was anyone who could get to the bottom of this visual perception problem, it would be him. I explained my situation to reception but, as I expected, I need a new referral in order to get an appointment.

So I called Dr Letheren’s office back because she very clearly said to me “I can’t help you.” I explained to reception that I have been seen by a Neuro-Ophthalmologist in the past and needed a referral to see him again since Dr Letheren is unable to help me. Her receptionist called me back to say she would not approve the referral because she didn’t think it was necessary.

I told her this is the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor and I will not be back to her office.
