Arrogant,doesn't know as much as he thinks he does! Probably just made the grade to become a doctor which isn't as high a mark as should be!

If you can avoid this doctor, do so.He is more worried about his ego than his patients.He has very little knowledge and has no clue how to treat people.Have had alot of experience with doctors and he is the worst that I have ever dealt with.

I highly recommend NO ONE see this doctor if you have any option. Poor bedside manner, insufficient knowledge and not very caring.
I've filed a complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC and recommend anyone who has a bad experience with him (or any other doctor) file a complaint. It's the only way to see change.

My daughter has been to see dr.van niekerk 5 times and he has always treated her with the upmost care he sat with both of us and listened to her and he asked her awhole bunch of questions about her illness and did tests before he even prescribed her anything. He also came to a decision to pull her from work and helped fill out her forms so she could go out on sick leave until she felt better. We absolutely thought he went over and beyond for her as this was not even her family doctor and as of last week my daughter does not want any other doctor now only dr. Van niekerk . I can't thank him enough for helping and taking such an interest in my daughters case I only wish there were more doctors like him in terrace.

What a joke, go in with what id think is the stomach flu and next thing you know he is trying to jam depression pills down my throat and offered counseling( I came in with a sore stomach and he diagnosed me as a manic depressive that needed anti depressants and counseling)I am pretty sure its the flu, jamming random pills down my throat like candy will only create chemical/hormone imbalances to say the least, who knows what else it would do. I will be filing an official complaint, worse doctor i have ever witnessed, i can't believe he is getting away with this. *note* I was only speaking with him for no more than 5 minutes and without knowing any of my back ground what so ever, I've never had any depression in mine or my family's past. Yet again, what a joke.

Dr. Van Niekerk misdiagnosed an illness that 2 previous doctors confirmed and when he started describing the symptoms had to match as he described I had to correct him and say it could also look like ____ and I started telling him about the illness. And this is a common illness that I would expect any doctor to know about. On a seperate visit he misread test results. That was my last straw. I think I had 3 visits with him and I am done, switched doctors. I do not feel that he knows his medicine or is very helpful in any way. I highly recommend NOT seeing him if you can!

Cold, judgemental demeanour. He's not very thorough, doesn't listen and misdiagnoses patients. Unfortunately, he is the only doctor in Terrace accepting new patients. Jennifer, his nurse, on the other hand is phenomenal.

I have had a very good experience with Dr.van Niekerk. He has been a great doctor for my family!
