Dr. Secretan changed my life. Because of my age (early 40’s) no doctor would even look at me but Charlie was willing to and one year to the day of our first appointment I had my first partial knee replacement . Less than 3 months later I was back to work and pain free.

Definitely I recommend Dr Secretan , knowledgeable and very thorough in treatment,I had a total knee replacement 7 weeks ago, all of my questions where answered and I was encouraged to call his office if I had further questions. Glad I opted to travel in order to have him as my surgeon.

I have never met such a rude egotistical Dr before. I came in with a totally damaged knee. He never made eye contact, didn't touch my knee and flatly refused to answer any of my questions. I kept thinking maybe he didn't hear me, or was thinking about something. After asking 3 times I realized that he was not going to answer me. I asked to see the xray and all i got was his "stink eye" meaning NO

This is my body, my injury, and I should be able to ask questions and understand his diagnosis and treatment plan. But I got none of that. I was told to see him at his hospital clinic for follow up. I went there and waiting for 45 min while he laughed and chatted with other patients, staff etc. He didn't seem to be treating anyone but I wasn't important enough for him. He eventually came over, again, no eye contact and told me what he thought and surgery or no surgery. He wouldn't explain why or give me options to consider. He basically dismissed me.

Was it because I was a senior and not an elite athlete. What ever his reason is unacceptable. I hear he is one of the best surgeons if you meet his standards I guess.

Although I have not at this point required surgery - my 84 hr friebd has had both hips done by him and was walking within 3-4 weeks and today my friend is pain free totally mobile ! He met me with grace - empathy - and took the time to have a nurse bring in a chart to discuss why he couldn’t operate at this time on my torn meniscus - as he explained the tear is small and surgery wouldn’t correct my issue given my other potential knee issues : he was the third Orthopedic doctor to say “no” to surgery. I find he has an excellent manner, empathetic and a good listener.

He seems fine and comes across as competent but you would be wise to look elsewhere if you’re looking for a true professional. Or live on the edge and put your health in Charlie’s hands…He might be having a “good” day.
