In my opinon, Frank Coufal is a Horrible Horrible person and even more HORRIBLE "doctor"!!
I am in horrible pain all of the time - total oversight and negligence!!
But I'm not the only one - I randomly struck up a conversation in the building with a lady who looked to be in such excruciating pain. She was Coufal's patient. (Of course ;)) She had countless problems after her surgery but she contracted a deadly bacterial infection (MERS) during the surgery at Scripps - spent a week in the ICU.
I should have RUN right then but stupidly didn't. I am in horrific pain and am searching for a (good!) doctor to help me!
Coufal is all about the money! After waiting an hour, I overhead him on the phone talking about his investments. Money over patients!! I'm simply DISGUSTED by Frank Coufal!!!

Office never returned my call. I had to reach out to the office to get an appointment. Once I did I waited over 45 minutes! I say his PA and she didn’t seem like she knew what she was doing! When I finally met him I realized his office is so terrible I would never have surgery by him

Dr. Coufal performed two brain surgeries on my dad to remove a benign tumor in his pituitary--first a transphenoidal then the same week a crainiotomy. He wasn't able to remove the tumor in either surgery and when my father woke up from the second surgery he had lost 80% of his sight--a side effect that Dr. Coufal never even mentioned as a possibility. His follow up and office was terrible. He's now seeing a world-class surgeon in UCLA who has questioned every decision Coufal made. Do your research, get a second opinion, ask questions and when it comes to brain surgery-find an experienced doctor.

Where to start, he is kind of rude but his staff is even ruder. He doesnt want you to even consider any other treatments besides his. If you have any question which cant, or doesnt want to answer he just tells you he needs more info. Once he gets the info he just forgets, or acts like he has forgotten all about his promise to update you. He doesnt believe in the patients bill of rights. If you want another type of treatment he wont help you. He lies about risk and dangers in his procedures. He may not be doing things illegally but he is unethical and I would never trust him.
