I have had two births with Lori, Heidi, and Leah. They have provided far superior care than what I ever received at an OBGYN office. They clearly understand the natural process of a physiological birth, what events are normal and which require intervention. The longer appointments they offer allowed me to get to know them and get their advice on proper nutrition as well as preparing for a safe delivery and having a healthy pregnancy. Their expert care facilitated a positive home birth experience and many positive memories.

I switched from Dr's care into Lori and Heidi's care, halfway through my pregnancy. My husband and I studied the statistics on the safety of homebirth, and interviewed midwives; finally deciding that Lori and Heidi were a good fit for us. I am a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, and evidence based practice in maternity care is very important to me. I wanted a care provider that believed in the natural process of birth and didn't see healthy pregnancy as an illness than needed to be "fixed". Lori and Heidi were calm and confident, and answered my questions with care knowledge. I looked forward to all of my in-home prenatal visits. They were never rushed, and took the time to care about my whole being, as well monitor my growing baby. I was presented with all my options for testing, and empowered to make the best choice I could for myself. My midwives were available to me any time I had a concern, and always encouraged me to trust my intuition. When my labor began, fast and intense, Lori and Heidi arrived quickly and quietly, taking care not to disrupt the peaceful environment we had created. They observed and monitored, but respected mine and my husband's space, allowing us to work as a a team to bring our baby into the world. Our baby was born into her Daddy's hands, under the watchful eyes of our midwives. We felt safe, intimately bonded, and ecstatic! Lori and Heidi allowed us plenty of time to meet and cuddle our precious girl, while staying close by and making sure we were all well. They stayed for hours, did all the clean up and tucked us safely into bed. The next day they were back to check on us, and cared for us for 6 weeks postpartum. My homebirth experience with Lori and Heidi was everything I hoped that it would be, and I highly reccomend their compassionate and professional care.

My experience with Lori was wonderful. Her office was cozy. Care was very thorough. She let me take charge when I wanted/needed too. Her assistants were caring and just as amazing as she was. I'm proud to say my baby was born safely at home while in their care.

After a very traumatic in-hospital birth, I decided I wanted to have a more empowered, knowledgeable experience when I got pregnant with my second child. Lori (and Heidi and Leah) fit the bill for this wish!

During every appointment, Lori made sure I was making INFORMED decisions and giving actual informed consent. I learned so much about my body, pregnancy, and the birth process- so much more than the birth classes I took during my first pregnancy.

And when things got a little hairy due to an attached placenta, Lori and Heidi were calm and took all the right steps to get me to the hospital.

Even after my daughter's birth, they continued to check on me- even coming to my home and distracting my kiddos so I could take a hot shower and eat a delicious breakfast.

Even with the post-birth transfer, it was an amazing experience and I am so glad I chose Lori as my provider!

About a year ago I came to Lori's office at 10 weeks pregnant with a baby I intended to VBAC. The first thing Lori said after collecting information about my cesarean was "you're a good candidate for VBAC" and also "you look healthy!" I'm in the obese category and I had never heard a care provider encourage me in that way. I eat healthy, exercise and I really appreciated her starting our relationship on the right foot. Lori is non-invasive. She doesn't suggest tests that have nothing to do with pregnancy (like other care providers would). She keeps an eye on your blood pressure, your overall health and the baby. I like this down to earth style of midwifery care and would definitely choose her again if God blessed us with another baby. The birth was awesome! It was a 23 hour labor and she encouraged me gently through the whole process, she didn't stay for the whole labor, because she knew my body doesn't work when I have people waiting on me. She came in the morning, gave me suggestions on positioning, resting, eating, ect... And came back when I felt ready for her to come and check on me. I labored into the night; she didn't force checks, she sat just outside the room while my husband or mom supported me and then was there making sure everything was going as it should while I pushed my baby into the world.

This experience left me more confident in my body and abilities. I am sure that the people you invite to your birth is such a large factor in the success of the birth, and I had the perfect midwife for my needs. We love Lori!!!

We just love Lori (and Heidi and Leah too!). I have used Lori for all of my births, expect for my first which was a hospital birth. And we loved the care we got from her and her team. She said the right things, and showed care, love, and support when I lost babies. She is very well educated and really knows her stuff, when things got a little hairy she would act with ease but determination to fix the problem quickly and safely. I can't wait to have another baby with this amazing midwifery team, which we are doing again here soon.

I have had 2 homebirths with Lori Orme. I have been thrilled with both the prenatal care as well as the support I have received from Lori. She is helpful, supportive, and helps you to make your own educated choices regarding your birth and baby. I would definitely plan to use her with future births.

I suggest anyone interested in this midwife's services read about her involvement in the death of a baby because she failed to take serious red flags into account during the prenatal period and at the birth.

This is probably not the most ideal avenue for me to share my experience but after learning of her new office in my home town and stumbling on the article of how twisted my case became and the poor reviews years after my son's loss I can no longer stay silent. I'm the "25 year old obese patient" the review board is referring to that lost her baby under Lori's care. I failed to testify on my behalf as the hearing was only months after losing my son and I was too traumatized. I've regretted not sharing my side ever since. It has taken me over three years to stop blaming myself and see her for what she really is. I do not believe she has learned from her mistakes. I wanted someone casual - and that's what I got. Not once did she ask me to get on the scale. She discouraged the GD test. She discouraged going to birthing classes. I pushed for over 6 hours with little progress. It was my first baby and I was naive. Don't make the same mistake.
