I wen to Dr Brown for many years but now I have moved to a different area of Christchurch. I miss Dr Brown. She was knowledgeable, kind and patient.

Gillian Brown is an amazing Doctor, taking the time to understand your situation and develop a robust treatment plan.
On top of this she works at a practice that pays their doctors less so that she can help more people - a shining example of a good Doctor!

I had a bad experience with Dr G Brown. I got a pinched (compressed) nerve in my neck as a result of a home accident. I was in an extreme pain radiated from my neck into my shoulder and arm. I also got numbness, tingling and burning sensations. I asked Dr Brown to refer me to the hospital to make MRI urgently. I needed steroid injections to reduce swelling and allow inflamed nerves to recover. I wanted to be treated professionally. However she refused to make an emergency referral to CHCH hospital and prescribed me strong narcotics and NSAIDs pills to survive. Probably she couldn't believe that I was in several pain. Generally I have the higher pain tolerance that other people would imagine possible. So, I can handle a pain but not for long.
I couldn't sleep for a month as well as I was suffering to walk, sit or do any activities. Finally she made a referral to a private sector. I was waiting for that appointment for about 1,5 months and my strong pain disappeared. I finally had an MRI scan which confirmed that the nerve root is being pushed on.
I've been so stressed and today my liver function blood test is not OK. I don't drink or smoke or do drugs. I think my liver was damaged by a very huge dosage of drugs she prescribed to manage my pain even I kindly asked her to switch pills to injections as I am not a young patient. I still have some problems with my neck and spine
I left Dr Brown and I would not recommend her for anyone.

Gillian is amazing. Great consults and treatment plans. She takes the time to listen and ensures she checks in with you about all aspects of your health not just what you are their for. She has a genuine interest in how you are feeling physically and mentally. Gillian went over and above to support mw when I was suffering with post natal depression. I recommend her to everyone I know.

Amazing doctor! Went to her in Newtown and have yet to find anywhere near as good a doctor in all of Wellington.
