I saw Dr. Roston for many years after mold exposure and he was never able to help me and didn't really seem very interested in trying. Years later, after I'd been in bed and suffering from an illness with very extreme coughing for months, my doctor again sent me to Dr. Roston as she didn't know what to do for me. Dr. Roston gave me a cursory exam, listened to my chest, took my temperature (low) looked in my ears, said I seemed fine and probably just had a cold or something. When I protested that I'd been sick for months, he gave me a prescription for a Z-Pak and sent me home. I got worse, with alternating chills and fever. I returned to see him again and told him the copious amounts of phlegm were making me vomit and that I wasn't getting any sleep. He took an X-ray and sent me home. I got worse. The coughing was so extreme that my abdominal muscles were almost in permanent spasm and I started coughing up a slight amount of blood and strange tiny hard black or yellow balls. I'd never seen anything like it. I thought I was dying. I went back to see Dr. Roston and gave him this information and he told me that my X-ray came back "clean." It was only at this point ....6 weeks from the first time I saw him.....that he took a sputum sample and then at the same time, without having any idea what was wrong with me, gave me a prescription for Cipro. I vaguely remembered reading that as a hypothyroid patient I shouldn't take that and told him so. He was annoyed and told me not to be silly. I just want to point out that the FIRST thing Dr. Roston should have done was take a sputum sample regardless of whether I could pass his lung function tests (as a long-time yoga practitioner I've always been able to do so even when I was so ill from the molds) since I was referred to him by my primary doctor with an extremely productive cough and in fact could not take a deep breath in his office without coughing spasmodically and spitting into a Kleenex. I also don't think he should have prescribed ANY antibiotic without that test. None the less, because I was so ill and scared, I filled the Cipro prescription on my way home. It did not make me better. When I called to find out the results of the sputum test, no one would tell me. I called repeatedly and finally asked for a copy of my records. At that point I was told that Dr. Roston no longer wanted to see me as a patient. I wasn't given a reason. I then asked for a copy of my complete medical records. First I was told I couldn't have them, and then I was told I would have to pay 25 cents a page for them. That is against HIPPA law.....if a doctor no longer wants to treat you, they are required to give you a copy of your records to take to the new doctor of your choice. I had to go to the administration of Cedars Sinai Hospital and file a formal complaint to obtain my records and when I finally got them, the toxicology report for the sputum test was missing. I had to go back to the administration and file another complaint that my records were incomplete in order to make Dr. Roston's office comply and when I finally got the report it showed that the sputum test was positive for pseudomonas, a very serious illness that could have killed me. On the toxicology report there was a list of appropriate medications for treatment and Cipro was not at the top of the list, Keflex, and entirely different class of antibiotic was. And, as I had suspected, Cipro was entirely contraindicated for thyroid patients as it interferes with the body's ability to utilize thyroid hormones. I immediately had a complete resumption of hypothyroid symptoms, gained 25 pounds in two weeks, and labs showed that my thyroid hormones plunged to the bottom of the ranges on my usual dose. I suffered extreme edema , my hair started faling out again, and it took over a year and many adjustments to my medications to get my thyroid levels back to an optimal level. Dr. Roston could have killed me and his actions seem unethical in the extreme. The only reason I can think of why his office interfered with me getting my records and then leaving out the toxicology report would have been to shield him from legal action. Otherwise his actions were inexplicable and certainly his treatment for my illness was careless. Run away and do it quickly.

Dr. Roston is one of the most reckless doctors in California. He is quick to prescribe dangerous drugs. He routinely bilks Medicare with unnecessary tests to pad his own wallet. If you are referred to Warren Roston, run. He is lazy, dangerous and asleep at the wheel.

I have been a patent of Dr. Roston for many years. He is a knowledgable and capable physician. The best of his staff moved with him to his new CS office on Robertson.
