Biography

Born in the suburbs of New York City, Dr. Vahab earned a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1998. Upon graduation, Dr. Vahab began a career in molecular genetics, working at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories in New York. Dr. Vahab then started a PhD in Plant Cell and Molecular Biology at Cornell University. Before finishing his PhD, Dr. Vahab made a career change, and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Vahab went on to complete a three year residency at the University of Maryland in order to limit his dental practice to the specialty of orthodontics. In conjunction with his orthodontic residency, Dr. Vahab obtained a Masters of Science in Oral Biology. Dr. Vahab and his wife Lana live in Washington, DC with their baby son Ansel, their dog Pamuk and their cat Latka. You might find them enjoying movies in the park, riding their tandem bike along the Potomac River, gardening, or just enjoying a nature walk. Dr. Vahab loves what he does, which is giving kids, teens and adults of Waldorf, St Charles, Charles County, La Plata, and Southern Maryland new smiles that they will have for the rest of their lives. Dr. Vahab has a conservative approach and prefers, when possible, to begin orthodontics in children when all the adult teeth have erupted. Leveraging the most modern technology, Dr. Vahab transforms smiles with braces, invisalign, Invisalign teen, clear braces, and dentofacial orthopedics. Dr. Vahab believes that the medical/dental world is becoming increasingly rushed, which is compromising the doctor-patient relationship.
