Despite numerous complaints about the staff at Dr. Whitelaw’s practice, I must add my experience of the exceptionally egregious behavior of this staff, which was toxic, far beyond a lack of caring or professionalism. The behavior of the staff, specifically Teresa at the front desk and the “office manager” were on April 29, 2021, inexcusably abusive to me. They exercised their “authority” to deprive me of needed treatment and to prevent me from communicating with the doctor.
For four months, they failed to process referrals to a specialist (and lied about it). And on this day, they refused to let me see the doctor, to schedule a telemedicine conference in which my pressing medical needs might be addressed, or to provide a copy of lab results containing vital medical information, so that I might bring that information to another doctor.

Dr. Whitelaw and the El Sol Family practice are entirely responsible for this behavior, which they authorized or permitted, despite numerous complaints on review sites about their behavior.

On April 29, having run into time snafus, and calling ahead to let them know I would be a few minutes late, I arrived 9 minutes late. Theresa lied and said that I was ten minutes late, which triggered the unbendable office policy that after ten minutes, appointments were cancelled and had to be scheduled. Who gave her this authority?

I asked to see the office manager, who refused to discuss the matter. I was understandably angry about the arbitrary abuse of power. She refused to schedule a telemedicine conference, she refused to provide a requested copy of my lab results which would enable me to take my serious medical problem quickly to another doctor. She claimed to be calling the police, because I asked to see the doctor to discuss this, and then telephonically provided a false (and defamatory) report to the police. I waited for the police to arrive, but they did not come.

This is not simply being uninterested in the well-being of patients. Theresa and Genevieve(?) and others have been allowed to fail to provide needed referrals—and lie about it; to enforce “office policies” which they lie about, and which prevent patients from getting vital medical care, to refuse to schedule appointments, to refuse to provide medical records that patients have a right to have, and to abuse and threaten patients who object to this treatment.

However competent Dr. Whitelaw might be, if the staff obstructs access and deprives patients of treatment, competence does not even arise. Moreover, the doctor, and the El Sol Family practice who employ these people are responsible for –and were apprised in many reviews about-- their behavior.

I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, and to whatever organizations oversee medical practices in AZ. But as potential patients, you are warned about who you will deal with at this doctor’s office, and how they think nothing of preventing you from receiving adequate medical treatment.

I was very impressed when I saw her for back pain and she performed a treatment that really helped. I would see her again.
