Accepting New Patients
Yes, this doctor is accepting new patients
When I heard I had a suspicious ovarian mass my gyn gave me a pelvic sonogram, had me go for an MRI and said I needed to see a specialist.(Women out there--have a pelvic sonogram each year-my doctor never gave me one). She recommended Dr. Fernanda Musa at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola NY. I found her to be quite thorough, interpreting the MRI for me, what would happen if she performed a laparoscopic procedure but would find a need to be more invasive if necessary, recovery time, etc.
As much as I liked Dr. Musa, I went for a second opinion. This doctor requested a CAT scan which I was opposed to. Dr. Musa told me it was not necessary since she felt the tumor was benign and would "stage" me differently if it was more serious when she did the surgery. Therefore a CAT scan was totally unnecessary.
Still, I was reluctant to use Dr. Musa since I couldn't find any reviews on her work. I shouldn't have been reluctant at all. My surgery was much more complex than originally thought (the benign mass had wound around my ureter and had to be cut away very gently so as not to damage the ureter) and Dr. Musa did an excellent job.
When I awoke from the anesthesia she told me about the complexity of my case. However, she gave me the option of remaining in the hospital overnight or going home. I chose to go home.
It is two weeks since my surgery. Any question I had about it were emailed to Dr. Musa, who promptly answers the emails of her anxious patients. I am recovering nicely, the DuraBond (NOT staples) is gradually flaking away and I am very happy to be alive. Dr. Musa is a five star doctor. And now she has a review!
