I have been very impressed with Dr. Hanley. As a recovering addict, I am always hesitant to disclose that part of my history because most doctors simply label me as an addict and only give me the most basic care required. Dr. Hanley really listens. He takes my history into consideration, always asks if I've had any relapses or urges, but understands that there were extenuating circumstances that led to my addiction. (I got addicted to hydrocodone following an injury. It was a physical response that was exacerbated by depression.) He is kind, intelligent, and caring. He also respects my opinions regarding my care. I often do research on my conditions and their treatments and I have a background in healthcare. He happily answers all of my questions, and we always thoroughly discuss the pros and cons of changing my treatment before doing anything. He understands that most people need to try different medications before finding the right regimen. I have even recommended him to my friend who was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I would like to note that he is usually on time, or only a few minutes late. If he is any later, he has a good reason, usually because of a patient.

It is very obvious that Dr. Hanley cares about you and your health as a patient but also you as person. He talks to you and treats you like a person, an individual, rather than a "disease" or "illness". He works to find what is right for you and your needs. I have seen other psychiatrists and when something didn't work their answer was always to add more medications on top of what wasn't working or just keep increasing doses. Dr. Hanley has worked with me to find medications that are right for me and my body so I don't have to take as many medications/excessively high doses of medication. He goes above and beyond what is required. His staff are all very friendly and helpful. When Ive called and left him messages he or his nurse have ALWAYS called me back the same day with the needed information. He is extremely knowledgable and is able to break down what he knows into "normal people" words/ideas so I as a patient understand what is happening with my care and why. AMAZING!!

Dr. Hanley is awesome. I can really tell he cares about me and all aspects of my treatment. He is the best psychiatrist in the area. I have seen most others. His staff is tremendous as well. He even makes personal telephone calls when warranted!
